The crate has many scrapes and dents, as well as a large horizontal crack on one side.

- Word for word translation of Chinese characters is as follows: winter; flower/ blossom/ bloom/ fireworks/ spend/ expend. This has been altered for English comprehension to "tussilago farfara". This herb is warm in nature. It helps to moistening lung, reducing phlegm and also can be a good treatment for coughing. It's mostly found in Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang and Qinghai. It can be found about 1,000m above the sea level that is normally around the mountains. The herb grows faster under 16-24 Celsius. If the temperature is above 36 Celsius, it will be withered.

- This item originates from the Chinese Herbalist Store "Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee & Co.", Victoria, B.C. This could posssibly be the packaging for the tea leaf that were used to prepare Shen Nong tea or it could be the tea that the shop owner/staff prepared for their own consumption. The same shop listed on the label is still operating in Hong Kong (as of 2018) at the same location.

- The label on the front of the box has product informtion in English: "Pang Yu Tai Lung Kee / No. 113 Bonham Street / Victoria. Hong Kong." Below this is more information on the tea. The side of the box has a painted design of flowers with a red box in the middles. The outline is in black, the top is rounded. Inside there are black Chinese characters. Text literally translates to English as: "a surname", "abundant, plentiful", "peaceful, most, safe, grand", "grand, intense, swell, thriving, sweet" and "remember, record". Chinese characters reveal the name of the pharmacist, Peng Yu Tai Long. It is written on the box that the effects of the tea are "removing sunstrokes and fevers and when taken after meals it would increase the power of ingestion".

- Hand painted label on side of box. black text in Chinese in centre, surrounded by illustrations of plants. Rectangular brown paper with 4 Chinese characters in black on one side. Small tear near the top left corner. The 4 Chinese characters literally translate to English as: " stone, rock, lapis", "pomegranate", "fur, skin" and "slice, piece". This has been adjusted for English comprehension to: "pericarpium granati", or pomegranate. Uses: The shape and the size of each slice of pericarpium granati is irregular. The thickness is between 1.5mm to 3mm. The surface is either in brown or dark brown. It doesn not have any specific smell, but the taste is bitter. It cures diarrhea, stop the bleeding and relieve the abdominal pain.

- Label contains Chinese characters that are literally translated to: "grass" "straw" "fruit" "result" "really" "resolute". When adjusted for English comprehension, product is "tasaoko amomum fruit". Tasaoko amomum fruit can be found in Yunnan, Guangxi, and Guizhou in China. The height of the plant is about 2.5 meters. The fruit will be in red when it harvests. The outer surface will be irregular wrinkled. The flower will bloom from May to June, The fruit will be from September to October. The main treatments are for malaria, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

- 2 sides of crate contain hand-written paper labels with Chinese characters.
- On one side (when adjusted for English comprehension), label is for Dichroa febrifuga, otherwise known as Antifebrile Dichroa or Chinese Quinine. It is the dried root of the Dichoroa febrifuga Lour. It is used to treat malaria, vomiting, chest phlegm accumulation.
- One second side (when adjusted for English comprehension), label is for Common Threewingnut Root. It dispels wind and eliminates dampness, alleviates pain, reduces swelling, detoxifies, and kills parasites. It's indicated in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, leprosy, nodules and tumor.

- Side one: Chinese characters literally translate to: "sky/heaven/day/god";"immortal/celestial being/a surname";"son/seed/viscount/you". When adjusted for English comprehension, label is for semen hyoscyami. It’s normally found in Hebei, Henan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Ningxia. Its tastes bitter and has light smell. It helps with asthma and soothing the nerves. It’s a good treatment for epilepsy, stomach cramps, diarrhea and also helps with toothache. Side 2: Chinese characters literally translate to: "nine/many";"greens";"son/seed/viscount/you". When adjusted for English comprehension, label is Chinese leek seed. - Item was part of a scrapbook created by Cecil Chue Kan Lee documenting the time he was employed as a Prodcue Buyer for Kelly Douglas and Company Limited and Western Commodities Limited in the 1970s and early 1980s. As a produce buyer for Kelly Douglas, Cecil Lee worked closely with local farmers along Marine Drive and in the Fraser Valley. The Burnaby company was one of the largest food distributors in Canada. In the mid-1970s, Lee was asked to oversee the import of Chinese mandarin oranges into Canada. Until that time, mandarin oranges had come from Japan and were sold in the winter, especially at Christmas. When the Japanese market could no longer keep up with demand, Kelly Douglas looked to China. The company relied on Lee’s cultural knowledge to build this very profitable part of their business.
