The Traffic and Transportation Committee was established on November 20, 1989. The Committee was immediately divided in two, creating the Traffic and Transportation Committee (Traffic Safety Division) and the Traffic and Transportation Committee (Transportation and Transit Division). Traffic and Transportation Committee (Transportation and Transit Division) was concerned with matters of public transit including annual service plans, proposed service changes, community transportation plans, public transportation awareness, etc. On January 13, 2003 these committees returned to their previously known names; the Traffic Safety Committee and Transportation Committee.

History
Bill Jeffries was the Director/Curator at the Simon Fraser University Gallery from 2005 to 2012. From 2001 to 2005, he held the same post at Presentation House Gallery in North Vancouver. Bill was born in New Jersey, emigrated from the U.S. to Canada in 1970, and was just finishing his B.F.A. at UBC around the time these photographs were taken in the summer of 1978.

As part of the donation, each negative was scanned as a TIFF; these scans were then compressed into jpegs for use on heritageburnaby.ca as access copies

The Contemporary Visual Archives Project was initiated by the library in 1976 and was completed in conjunction with Simon Fraser University Communication students, in which photographers went out into Burnaby to document its neighbourhoods, mainly focusing on building, houses, etc. Its aim was to present a contemporary view of Burnaby at that time in photographs.

The Chevron Green Belt / Buffer Zone Advisory Committee was established in 1997. This committee was created in order review the Chevron Green Belt area prepared in 1975. The Committee was responsible for organizing public and staff input regarding the boundaries of the buffer zone, road patterns, and trail routing, landscaping, and ensuring a positive relationship with the adjoining neighbourhood. The Chevron Green Belt / Buffer Zone Advisory Committee disbanded at the end of 1999.

Since 1952, the South Burnaby Metro Club (formerly known as the South Burnaby Men's Club) has been working to help the children of the community. Guided by the motto: "Dedicated to Youth", the club has sponsored numerous youth sporting events and has played a key role in the development of many of Burnaby's youth programs and facilities, including the Bonsor Recreation Centre and Ron McLean Park.

The items in this collection depict Burnaby citizens, locations, businesses, residences, geography, and events throughout the history of the City of Burnaby. The items in this collection are acquisitions of discrete items or small sets of items that do not form a discrete fonds or collection.
History
Burnaby’s first municipal archive officially opened on November 10, 2001, and is located in the McGill Branch Public Library at 4595 Albert Street. The City Archives functions as a branch of the Office of the City Clerk and operates as the official repository of Burnaby’s municipal records, containing records dating back to Burnaby’s incorporation in 1892. In 2007, the City of Burnaby Archives expanded its collection mandate to include private as well as public records. Types of records held at the Archives include City Records (Council minutes and reports, bylaws, departmental records and photographs) and records from private individuals and community organizations (correspondence, reports, minutes, photographs, moving images and sound recordings). The Archives storage area is equipped with the sophisticated environmental controls necessary to preserve Burnaby’s unique archival material into the future. The mandate of the City of Burnaby Archives is to identify, acquire, preserve and make accessible archival material in the form of civic and private records documenting the history of the City of Burnaby.

On January 13, 2003, the committee was once again known as the Transportation Committee. On February 20, 2017 the Transportation Committee was integrated with the Public Safety Committee.

History
Seton Academy operated out of the mansion known as "Overlynn" in the Burnaby Heights area. The main residence was built in 1907 as a private home. The school was built in 1954 and functioned as a private school and convent. Following the closure of the school, Action Line Housing Society purchased the property and developed it into a senior citizens housing and care facility. As there was a delay in obtaining government grants, Seton was briefly leased out to Simon Fraser University to the cover mortgage and maintenance.
