- Item consists of a typewritten, twenty five page report entitled "A History of the First Ten Years of the South Burnaby Men's Club", "A Club of young men dedicated to the interests of youth, in particular to the youth of South Burnaby". The booklet outlines the South Burnaby Men's Club from 1952 to 1962, with detailed information about what was accomplished during each year. The club was founded in September 1952 and began as a carpool for churchgoing residents who lived in the South Burnaby area. The club was later incorporated in 1955. The Charter Members are noted on page 4 as; Bing Bakken, Dick Brine, Ed Forsyth, Lynn Foslien, Don Kent, Joe Gibbs, Parker McCarthy, Al Nuert, Peck Peterson, Ernie Renouf, Tom Ross, Bill Selder, Cliff Wight and Lee Wilkinson. Club later became The South Burnaby Metro Club.

- Leaflet; bi-fold, colour; illustration of church on front cover with title "A Village Church for / Century Park's Heritage Village / S. Burnaby's Men's Club plans pioneer "meeting / house" as 20th Anniversary Community Project" [1974]. Item is a promotional leaflet of the South Burnaby Men's Club (S.B.M.C) to raise funds to build a "Village Church" in Heritage Village. Back of leaflet provides information on the S.B.M.C. Village Church Committee including names of chairman, treasurer and honorary [sic] directors and a fillable form for donations.

- Created by South Burnaby Men's Club and collected as promotional material by Century Park Museum Association who governed Heritage Village Museum. The Village Church opened at Heritage Village in October 1974.

- History
- Robert Stanley Vannerus "Bob" was born in 1927 and died in 2004. On October 27, 1950, he married Yvonne Sigalet. Yvonne and Bob had three children; Bruce, Gary and Carol. Bob was a member of the Burnaby Auxiliary Police and in 1966, after returning to school, he was appointed a Special Constable with the Burnaby RCMP. Bob took a position with the Highways Patrol and later transferred to the Sheriff's Department where he retired as a Deputy Sheriff in 1988. He was very active in junior sports including Little League Baseball and the BC Minor Baseball Association. Being a member of the RCMP allowed Bob to be eligble to play for the RCMP soccer, baseball and bowling teams. His love of sports also allowed him to coach juvenile Hockey, soccer and baseball when his children got involved. Bob was also an active member of the South Burnaby Men's Club and the Burnaby Masonic Lodge #150.

- Lapel pin, with pin back, is made of stamped brass and gold plated. The pin is shaped like a maple leaf with a ribbon across the centre. There is also a plant rising vertically across the centre of the maple leaf. The maple leaf is enamelled green with the ribbon in red. The plant is yellow. There is a small logo of crossed baseball bats in the lower left corner of the pin. The ribbon has "South Burnaby" on it and "Men's Club" appears on the leaf. "S.B.M.C. Baseball Tournament", surrounds the logo. The pin was issued by the South Burnaby Men's Club for a baseball tournament they sponsored.
- Object History
- This pin was part of Councillor Jim Young's collection. Jim Young was a Burnaby Councillor for 12 years, from 1987 until 1999. During his time in office he served on 19 boards and councils and was instrumental in major developments in transportation, policing and neighbourhood development.

Newsletter was edited by Pixie McGeachie; produced by Don Copan and authored by Century Park Museum Association president, John Thomson.
