Word for word translation is as follows; flower; flag; ginseng. This has been adjusted for English comprehension to "American ginseng". This is a different herb from (Chinese) ginseng. The root of the perennial herbaceous plant Panax quinquefolium L. of the family Araliaceae. Mainly produced in U. S. A. and Canada. Cultivated in Beijing city, Jiling and Liaoning provinces in China also. American Ginseng to be more yin – meaning it is used to reduce 'heat' in the body. In comparison, Asian Ginseng is thought to be more yang – meaning it is used to raise 'heat' in the body. Slightly fragrant, bitter and slightly sweet in flavor. Characters can be literally translated to: He Ming Xing (brand name); to knock against; red; pill. This product is a pill from He Ming Xing Tang. The shop started operating in 1651. In traditional Chinese medicine, the pills were used for the treatment of intestinal deficiency, heat detoxication, stagnation, stomach heat, detoxication, noxious heat blood stasis, etc.

Label contains Chinese characters that are literally translated to "toad"; "crunchy" or "limp". When adjusted for English comprehension, product is "Cinobufagin/cinobufagin venom toad." "Cinobufagin is a cardiotoxic bufanolide steroid secreted by the Asiatic toad Bufo gargarizans. It is toad skin and parotid gland secretions. It has side similar effects to digitalis and is used in traditional Chinese medicine. (Digitalis is used to treat congestive heart failure (CHF) and heart rhythm problems (atrial arrhythmias).)
