- Subseries consists of photographs depicting Edmonds School, including its students, staff, and surrounding area, as well as a collection of records related to a research project in which students interviewed former Edmonds School students.
- History
- Edmonds School traces its history back to the opening of the first school in Burnaby in 1894. The "Burnaby school" was a typical one-room school house constructed on a small site on the opposite side of Canada Way (then named Douglas Road) and 18th Avenue. In 1896, when West Burnaby School, was built the school was renamed the "East Burnaby School." By 1908, the original small school house and its little playground became too small to contain the growing number of school-aged children living in the area. That year the Municipality of Burnaby and the Burnaby School Board funded a new four room school to house 75 students on the present site facing Edmonds Street. This building was known for many years as the old "gray school" because of its drab paint colour. In 1913, a four-room addition completed this school which was then renamed the "Edmonds Street School." In 1922, the school was was expanded with a new four-room "bungalow" building on the Douglas Road side of the property. By 1925, four more rooms were added to house the student population of this rapidly growing district, which peaked at 580 by 1930. After World War II, the old school was designated as a junior high school and in 1949, the present building was opened on an expanded site. By 1953 and 1955 the school received more additions to accommodate a student enrolment that had expanded to thirteen hundred students. The original gray building was demolished in 1956 and the bungalow building, which had served for many years as the elementary school, was destroyed by fire in 1989. The school was later rebuilt as Edmonds Community School.

- File consists of a red vinyl scrapbook binder with an image from a Girl Guide poster “Girl Guides of Canada” glued to the front cover.This binder was put together by Pixie McGeachie. There are 43 black pages with newspaper clippings, photographs and other paper documents mounted inside. Dates range from 1964 (Golden Jubilee for Burnaby Guides) to the end of 1967. The first page includes a handwritten notecard and envelope from Lady Olave Baden-Powell to the Burnaby Girl Guides. The letter was addressed to Pixie McGeachie and reads : "Hello Burnaby Girls! / I did appreciate / your kind thoughts / for me at the time of / your Golden Jubilee / Congratulations to you all." Four black white photographs contained within album are from the Burnaby Guides Golden Jubilee and are identified as Girl Guide leaders: Mrs. T. Schootman, Mrs. H.L Puppyn, Mrs. V. Hill, Mrs. J.W. - File consists of 5 double-sided, loose pages of a scrapbook created by Sea Ranger Kathyrn "Kathy" Raadsheer (nee Hardy) who was involved in guiding in Burnaby. The first page of the scrapbook is black photo paper with a blue foil rectangle stapled to it. A rendering of the Canadian Girl Guides logo is adhered to the blue foil paper. The logo features a trefoil shaped by gold cord and the “C G G / Be Prepared" motto highlighted with gold glitter. A blue and gold folded ribbon is also adhered to the bottom of the blue foil background. The rest of the scrapbook pages contain several photographs along with bits and pieces of ephemera relating to Kathyrn Raadsheer's time as a Brownie and as a Sea Ranger in the 8th and 19th Burnaby Companies. Included in the material are newspaper clippings about the presentation of the Gold Cord to Kathy in 1965 and clippings relating to the winning of the "Cock of the Walk" pennant by her Sea Ranger crew at the 12th annual provincial Sea Ranger regatta. The pages also include Brownie and Sea Ranger badges earned by Kathy, as well as various patches and crests from Sea Ranger winter camps held in 1963, 1964, and 1965.

- History
- Keith Jamieson was one of the founding members of the Lower Mainland Association of the Friends of the Vancouver Carousel. The Association was created in 1989 to raise funds to rescue the C.W. Parker Carousel no. 119 from Playland at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE). As a collector and restorer of vintage carousel horses, Keith and his wife Pat took a keen interest in saving this carousel. In May 1989, Burnaby Village Museum agreed to provide a home for the carousel and Friends of the Carousel set about raising the $350,000 to purchase the machine which opened at the Museum in 1993. Jamieson a carousel expert, worked on restoring the Expo ’86 carousel and agreed to oversee the restoration of the Parker Carousel when it was moved to Burnaby.

Next to this unit are some more shelves built along the side of the wall. There is also an assortment of bottles and jars on the top one while the bottom shelf has some small boxes.
