- The Housing Committee was established on November 14, 1966. The Housing Committee advises on protecting and providing affordable housing to Burnaby residents. The Committee was renamed the Housing and Civic Development Committee from 1989 to 1991. After 1991, Council split the Housing and Civic Development Committee into two separate committees: Housing Committee and Civic Development Committee. The Housing Committee was called Community Planning and Housing Committee from 1997 to 2002, and from 2003 to 2005, the Community Planning and Housing Committee was renamed Housing Committee again. In 2006, the Housing Committee was called the Community Development Committee.
