Both Girl Guides are wearing the new two piece uniforms which were a change from the older one piece version. The bottom of the guide uniform appears at first glance to be a skirt but in reality is a pair of full colottes.

Randall broke down a door, dragged his brother from the house and extinguished his burning clothes. The award is made to scouts who show considerable courage. In background is the governor-general's aid-de-camp Brig.-Gen. E. G. Eakins. The presentation was made during the governor-general's visit to Burnaby on Monday afternoon."
