- Photograph of the Division One class at Gilmore Avenue School (this information is written on a blackboard at the rear of the classroom). A male teacher is standing beside the blackboard and the class is seated at their desks (each desk is attached to the back of the chair in the front). There are 21 girls and 14 boys. The boys are dressed in sweaters or rough sports jackets, baggy trousers, and open-necked shirts. Their hair is generally moppish, or parted. The girls are generally wearing sweaters and wide skirts, with several wearing necklaces. Most have long hair, pulled back and tied, or parted and hanging. Identified: (3rd row of desks, 5th from left) Mary Warren; (1st row of desks, 4th from left) Lena Horne (later Lena McManus). Mary Warren was the daughter of John H. Warren and Mary W. Warren (nee Slaven) who settled in Burnaby and built a house on Union Street in 1912. Mary Warren later became Mary Anthony when she married Bill Anthony. The teacher may be Stanley Griffiths. A blackboard on the left of the picture has math problems written on it. Above, a row of prints hang, among the ones identifiable are Shakespeare and the Fathers of Confederation. The room is lit by dangling electric bulbs. Inscribed on the negative, lower left of the print: "272." An annotation in pencil on the back of the photograph reads, "Mr. Tom Browning." In 1912 Gilmore Ave. School was only a tent as blasting and clearing was being carried out. Later that year, a four-room building was completed and pupils moved in. By 1914, another four rooms were added to meet increased enrolment. Four rooms were added again in 1922, and four rooms and an auditorium were added in 1929. The school was renovated in 1954 and 1955. A library was added in 1964 and six more rooms were built in 1967. The school was named after Hugh B. Gilmour, but an error by a municipal clerk in 1912 changed the spelling to Gilmore.

- Doll Crib - The doll crib is large. The solid ends and bottom are made from 3/8 " plywood. The sides are eight, 3/8 ' dowels set in an upper and lower rail. The whole is screwed and glued together. There is the remains of a decal on the inside face of one end panel. The wood has been finished with a yellowed shelac or varnish.

The webinar is titled "Eating your way through Burnaby: A look at Chinese Canadian history through food" and is presented by Denise Fong, Planning Assistant for the City of Burnaby. The zoom webinar is the seventh in a collection of seven "Burnaby Neighbourhood Speaker series" webinars that were presented and made available to the public between September 29 and October 27, 2020. The live webinar and recording was also made available on the Burnaby Village Museum's facebook page. In this webinar, Denise Fong talks about how Chinese Canadians have played a key role in supplying food to Burnaby’s community through their participation in the local market gardening, green grocer, and restaurant industries. The presentation is supported with historical maps, photographs, documents, census records and stories from recent research on the 1960s-1970s period in Burnaby’s Big Bend and Capitol Hill neighborhoods. In her presentation, Denise also talks about the history of Chinese Immigration in Canada including the political circumstances and legal barriers that Chinese migrants faced in the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Denise highlights specific Chinese Canadian family farms in Burnaby including; the Jung family farm located on 5460 Douglas Road operated by Jung Chong and his wife Jung Gee Shee; "Hop On Farms" located on Marine Drive, operated by Chan Kow Hong, Sui Ha Hong and family; the Tong Yip Farm located on Byrne Road operated by D.T. "George" Yip and his wife, Yip Chow Won Tai. Denise also highlights her recent research regarding Chinese Canadian corner stores and green grocers in Burnaby including; The Lee Kee grocery store located at 3824 East Hastings Street, owned and operated by Yow Lee Ko and his wife Say Jan Chan; the Burnaby Market located at 3942 East Hastings Street, owned and operated by Chin Yin Wong; the Quon Bros. located at 3702 East Hastings Street.; Y. Hoy Produce Co. located at 4092 East Hastings Street operated by Hoy Yen; Louie's Food Basket located at 5886 South East Marine Drive operated by Hoy Bew Louie, his wife Poy Yee and later by thier son Bing Louie and Tommy's Market located in Burnaby's Edmonds neighbourhood, operated by Tommy Chu. Denise also provides a detailed history of Tommy Chu and family who owned and operated Tommy's Market. Denise tells of how in the early 1970s, Chinese grocers in the lower mainland came together and formed the Lower Mainland Independent Grocers Association and Lower Mainland Grocers Co-Op. The organization was formed to protect the rights and promote businesses of independent grocers. In closing, Denise explains how her research of Chinese Canadian history in Burnaby continues and by the end of the project, the information will be made accessible in the form of a publication.

- Quote from letter of Aug. 15, 2002 from Fred Blake (letter in accession file): "With reference to the enclosed picture where I am stretched out on the bed. All my early pictures were taken with a box camera that I still have. With the slow film and poor room lighting I knew it would have to be a five minute time exposure. There was no automatic timer on the box camera. You had to press the shutter button to open the lens and again to close it. With this length of exposure I knew that if I moved quickly I could be in the picture. I had the others propped up and opened the lens and ran across and took my place on the bed. When I fell back I realized that I had forgotten a back rest for myself. I stayed that way for five minutes as I didn't want to take a chance of spoiling the picture. When the time was up I ran across the room and closed the lens. I was pleased that the picture tuned out alright, but a little disappointed about me."

- George Vincent Martin was born in 1892 in England. He married Matilda Florence Reed in 1916. He purchased a property in North Burnaby in the 1920s on Trinity Street. There was a main house and a "shack" on the property split up onto two lots.
