Laying of the Corner Stone - Invitation -- [1923]. Invitation was sent out from the E.J. Ryan Contracting Company Limited on behalf of the Hon. J.D. MacLean, M.D.C.M., to the laying of the corner stone of the new Science Building at the University of British Columbia. The event was to take place on Friday, September 28th, 1923. The invitation is printed on a large piece of paper which has been folded in half. The invitation is rather crumpled.

Object History
This artifact was found during construction of replacement foundations of Estate Cottage building at Fairacres (now Burnaby Art Gallery). It was found in 1998 during the restoration project.

Dish made of glass. Dish is rectangular shape but shallow, the sides flare out slightly. The glass is cut out on the sides to create a design, and the edges are scalloped. The dish has several cracks in the glass.

Tub shaped coiled cedar root basket with cedar root foundation and overcast rim. Walls of basket flare slightly towards rim. Imbricated with designs in red cherry bark and grass. Design is known as cluster of flies. The foot on the bottom of the basket, made from two extra rows of coiling, is a feature that protects the base of the basket from wear and tear. Object History
White beading on the foot of the basket is said to be a feature typical of Spuzzum. This was reported by basket makers from that community during collections research conducted at MOA to Sharon Fortney and Bill Mclennan.
