- American Sugar Refining Company - Label Booklet. Small booklet produced by the American Sugar Refining Company containing labels for fruit preserves. The front cover of the booklet is dark blue with illustrations of fruit, canned preserves and a box of Domino Cane Sugar. Inside there are three remaining rows of labels, from a potential six rows. Each row contains labels for various fruits, all starting with Strawberry. The booklet measures 13cm x 5cm.

- Object obtained by the City of Burnaby from the Eagles Estate located within Deer Lake Park. The estate was owned by Dr. Blythe Alfred Eagles (1902-1990) and Dr. Violet Evelyn (Dunbar) Eagles (1899-1993). The couple married in Vancouver in 1930. Dr. Blythe Eagles served as dean of agriculture at U.B.C. from 1949 to 1967. Dr. Violet Eagles was one of Canada's leading enzyme chemists. More information can be found on Heritage Burnaby.

- Object History
- As a produce buyer for Kelly Douglas, Cecil Lee worked closely with local farmers along Marine Drive and in the Fraser Valley. The Burnaby company was one of the largest food distributors in Canada. In the mid-1970s, Lee was asked to oversee the import of Chinese mandarin oranges into Canada. Until that time, mandarin oranges had come from Japan and were sold in the winter, especially at Christmas. When the Japanese market could no longer keep up with demand, Kelly Douglas looked to China. The company relied on Lee’s cultural knowledge to build this very profitable part of their business. Lee designed the cardboard Chinese mandarin orange box to replace wooden containers. The iconic design required no glue or staples, making it possible for farmers to assemble and pack the boxes as they picked the oranges.

- Object History
- In 1895, William Harold Malkin began W.H. Malkin Co. Ltd. with two of his brothers. The wholesale grocers had three warehouses along Water Street in Vancouver (one of which is presently the Old Spaghetti Factory). From 1929 to 1930 he was mayor of Vancouver and in 1934 he endowed the Malkin Bowl in Stanley Park. - Portable audio tape recorder with a time code generator attached underneath the recorder. The tape recorder is a "NAGRA IV - S" model with serical number "0604219", marked as made by "NAGRA KUDELSKI Made in Switzerland 1033 Chessaux Switzerland". Originally intended for use with 5 inch spools, this machine has been adapted to accomodate 7 inch spools. The clear plastic lid is moulded to allow 7 inch spools and wings have been added to the sides to support the larger spools. Toogle switches are recessed and setting switches are flat and notched both to prevent accidental changes while recording. There is no power pack with the machine. There is a battery compartment for 12, "D" size batteries located on the underside of the machine.. The tape machine has a sticker at the centre top reading: "AUDIO CINE SERVICES Inc. [address line struck out] 416-461-5015 FEB 9/99 468 71/2 99068" This may indicate the company and date of the addaptation to the larger spools The attached time code reader is marked "Tape Recorder Module TC 200A" "COHERENT COMMUNICATIONS INC." There are two male, seven pin DIN connectors extending from each side of the time code reader on short 4 to 5 inch blue cables. There are two female RG59 BNC connectors on the back of the module and a female 15 pin digial cable socket. There is a socket for plugging in a time code reader.
- Object History
- This machine was used by the donor to record sound on TV and movie location shoots in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland. The Nagra IV was preceeded by the Nagra III, which revolutionized the recording of sound for film in the early 1960's. The IV was introduced in 1971 and used until the 1990's.
