- box of watch dial washers; thin cardboard box with hinged lid; green exterior with white label adhered to lid and white interior; text in black on label reads: "5 gr. / round / DIAL WASHERS / brass / 00 s 0 s 12 s 16 s 18 s / Made in Switzerland"; text in red on label reads: "355"; handwritten text on label reads: "W / 2.00"; interior of box is segmented into five compartments; each compartment contains a corked, glass vial containing brass dial washers; vial corks are stamped: "00 s". "0 s", "12 s", "16 size", and "18 s" in blue ink.

- File consists of images and selected contents from a scrapbook with 38 double sided pages containing mostly photographs with some newspaper clippings, written material and emphemera including a page of badges and ribbons which reads "Enrolment & Membership Card of / Joan Bailey 1926 / 1st Burnaby" and an embroidered alphabet of the Morse Code. The third page of the scrapbook includes a four page chronology titled "History of Guiding - Burnaby / 1913 - 1960" compiled by Mrs. Dolly Weber, Mrs. J. Heaps, Miss Eileen Periton, Mrs. J. Albertson and D. Fowler. The scrapbook also includes an original letter and post-script from Lady Olave Baden-Powell to Mrs. Fowler dated November 5, 1961; a typewritten copy of: "TSOONA" / PROVINCIAL GUIDE CAMPSITE - ROSEDALE B.C." and a three page typewritten copy of "THE CAMPFIRE / Volume 1, No. 4 _ November 1935 _ Vancouver, B.C.". Map was produced prior to the Second World War [pre-Munich International Boundary lines]. Map depicts approximately 47 N to 55 N and from 3E to 22E. The country of Germany sits at the centre of the map bordered by Holland, Belgium and France to the west; Switzerland, Austria and Hungary to the south; Lithuania, Poland, Czechoslavakia, Hungary and Romania to the east and Denmark and the Baltic Sea to the north. Annotations in green ink on the map mark areas of Germany that were bombed during World War Two and were added by Royal Canadian Air Force First Officer Joseph (Joe) H. Corsbie during his service.

- This is a small, hand cranked, phonograph in a hinged wooden box. The box has a leather handle for carrying and the corners are reinforced with plated brass corners. here is a hole for the crank on the side of the box and the knob for the turntable brake is beside it. ca. 1926 The lid opens flat for use and the tone arm mounts on a sound box built into the inside of the top The turntable is 12 cm in diameter and is covered with green felt. The tone arm, reproducer and hand crank are stowed inside the box when it is closed. The phonograph reproducer is pressure fit into the end of the tone arm. The reproducer diaphragm is marked "SONATA / Registered No44481 / MADE IN SWITZERLAND". Twin anchors are on either side of the SONATA. The spring and drive mechanism is accessed by removing the bottom of the case. The mechanism is marked "THORENS / (cross and anchor logo) / SWISS MADE" There is no needle in the reproducer.
- Object History
- This Graphonette or small suitcase gramophone was made by Thorens of St. Croix, Switzerland, using a “SONATA” reproducer or sound box. These smaller phonographs were prised for their portability, but not for the loudness of their sound. These small machines were very popular after the First World War. The ability to play records anywhere had made them popular gifts for solders They remained popular through the 1920s. The Sonata is designed to play 10 inch, 78 RPM records. There is no need for a speed adjustment because 78 RPM was the standard speed for disks.

- Description
- Portable audio tape recorder with a time code generator attached underneath the recorder. The tape recorder is a "NAGRA IV - S" model with serical number "0604219", marked as made by "NAGRA KUDELSKI Made in Switzerland 1033 Chessaux Switzerland". Originally intended for use with 5 inch spools, this machine has been adapted to accomodate 7 inch spools. The clear plastic lid is moulded to allow 7 inch spools and wings have been added to the sides to support the larger spools. Toogle switches are recessed and setting switches are flat and notched both to prevent accidental changes while recording. There is no power pack with the machine. There is a battery compartment for 12, "D" size batteries located on the underside of the machine.. The tape machine has a sticker at the centre top reading: "AUDIO CINE SERVICES Inc. [address line struck out] 416-461-5015 FEB 9/99 468 71/2 99068" This may indicate the company and date of the addaptation to the larger spools The attached time code reader is marked "Tape Recorder Module TC 200A" "COHERENT COMMUNICATIONS INC." There are two male, seven pin DIN connectors extending from each side of the time code reader on short 4 to 5 inch blue cables. There are two female RG59 BNC connectors on the back of the module and a female 15 pin digial cable socket. There is a socket for plugging in a time code reader.
- Object History
- This machine was used by the donor to record sound on TV and movie location shoots in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland. The Nagra IV was preceeded by the Nagra III, which revolutionized the recording of sound for film in the early 1960's. The IV was introduced in 1971 and used until the 1990's.
