- Matte has a cluster of Chinese characters on the bottom left corner and on the middle right side. Chinese characters were translated into English in 2018.
- On the right hand side, it is written ""for Mr. Wong Hong to keep"".
- On the bottom of the left hand side, it is written the name of the photographer (last name is Lam). The last character of his name has no matching word in Chinese. One of the characters on the bottom left generally means younger brother (related by blood), but with close friends, the younger person may refer himself as such too. Since they had two different last name ""Wong"" and ""Lam"", therefore these two people could not be related.

If the family of any overseas compatriots who are living in Hong Kong need money urgently, [we] can also speed up the remittance. Your patronage is very welcomed.". The smaller words translate to: "The valued customers have to take care of the remittance fee on your own. Connection to any city in the Canton province; fast and proper remittance."

- Photograph of an unidentifed woman of Chinese descent standing with two unidentified young boys of Asian descent. The woman, in her late thirties or early forties, is dressed in a dark-coloured, long-sleeved, pant suit with black flat shoes and a black hand bag on her right hand. She has light coloured turtleneck shirt underneath. The older, taller boy, on her right, has a dark pin-striped, double breasted suit with dark long pants and black, laced shoes. The younger boy has a lighter pin-striped, double breasted suit with dark long pants and black, laced shoes. The background shows a paneled divider on the left and an opening with heavy, dark drapes on the right.

- Photograph of a three story brick building on a main street. The building has been identified as the Lee Block, 1618-1628 Government Street at the corner of Government as Fisgard in Victoria. One of the business is Bayshor Travel. "Lum Sai Ho Ass'n" written in Chinese characters on the storefront of the shop fourth from the left. The front window has some pottery displayed and the address, 1624 . In front of the business a station wagon is parked and there is a someone giving it a ticket. Next to that store is one called "China Commodity /All Products from Peoples Republic of China." The front windows display plates and other pottery.
