Item consists of a handwritten air mail letter from Sergeant Colin Rhodes Fox of the Royal Canadian Artillery Service to his aunt Marianne "May" Bateman while serving overseas during World War II. Colin Fox served in the 13th Canadian Field Regiment with the 44th and 78th Canadian Field Battery. In his letter, Colin thanks May for her recent parcel; he tells of how they've been busy in the drive across the North of Holland; how they're back in Germany now and while on a mission they had to take thirty German prisoners; how he heard from his brother Allan about coming overseas to Police Germany after the war is over; how he's heard that the Americans and Russians have linked up and wonders why the Germans won't quit.

Object History
Note from donor: Grace Young (married name Dawkins) was patrol leader for the 1st Vancouver Girl Guide Co. from Christ Church Cathedral. Phyllis Mortimer was her second. Phyllis Mortimer later joint the Vancouver Police Department, where she served with Graces' husband, Albert Clayton Dawkins. Grace and Albert married in 1936 at St. Nicholas Church in Burnaby. Grace was the person who suggested the name Burnaby Royal Area when the Girl Guides were looking for a new name for that area.

British Columbia Driver's Licence - License -- [1928]. Driver's Licence issued to Jean Caldwell Thompson on August 8, 1928. The front cover has the Provincial Coat of Arms and the issue number for the licence "No. 144650". The fee for obtaining the licence was $1. It states that "The Licence Must Be Carried With You At All Times When Driving". Inside provides detailed information about Jean and rules and regulations to driving. The address given for Jean was "General Hospital Vancouver". The license has been stamped by the Provincial Police in Vancouver, B.C. and signed by Superintendent of the Provincial Police E. McArthur. The licence measures 6.5cm x 10cm.

Object History
From the estate of Norah Byrne, daughter of Peter Byrne and Priscilla Amelia Rowling Rowling. She married William Napoleon Descoteau on May 28th 1924 in New Westminster. William worked as a steam engineer on the railroad.
