- File consists of a master copy of an article created by Paulene Hall for the newsletter "Guidelines Burnaby Royal Area" - "Accent on the Archives". Burnaby Guide archival materials were compiled from scrapbooks, photographs, newspapers, biographies and research to create articles for the newsletter. Subject matter within this file is about Phyllis Munday. In 1924 Phyllis with her colleague Annette Buck became the first women to reach the summit of Mount Robson. During her lifetime she scaled over 100 peaks many of which were in B.C.'s remote Coast Mountains. At Guiders' conferences Phyllis inspired many young Guiders with her stories about her life and Guiding experiences. Munday was granted the Order of Canada in 1973 for her pioneering efforts and for her dedicated service to the Girl Guides, St. John Ambulance and the Alpine Club of Canada. A stamp was created in her honour in 1998.

- Photograph of Mary Ada Bingham standing in front of a giant tree stump in Willingdon Heights which was to be cleared for a veterans' housing project in 1948. According to an accompanying note prepared by Burnaby Village Museum, and supported by the inscription on the photograph, Ada Bingham came to Burnaby to homestead with her husband, Alfred "Alf" Bingham, in 1919. They settled in the Lochdale district of North Burnaby but later moved to Parker Street.

Lobley (Dolly) in hat, Winnie Patterson, Emma Sully, and Jimmy Fitzpatrick. Beside them, a dog, identified as "old Dan" is sitting and looking towards the group. An annotation on the back of the photo reads: "I will send you some snaps of the wedding if they come out O.K."
- History
- Arthur Lobley immigrated to Canada in 1892. He married Dora Cooke (identified as Mrs. A. Lobley in photograph), likely in England. Arthur worked for the CPR and the couple lived at 2619 Marlborough Avenue in Burnaby. Along with his brother, Charles, Arthur was an early resident of the Central Park neighbourhood of Burnaby. According to George Green's book, "History of Burnaby," pg. 134, the Lobleys were an early pioneer family in Burnaby. Arthur Lobley is credited for opening the Royal Oak Road to the tram station at Royal Oak in 1897. Dora's aunt, Emma Sully and her husband John Sully were lodgers at the Lobley house on Marlborough Street. Dora's cousin, Winnifred Davis Patterson was also a lodger until her marriage to Carl Anderson in 1940.

- Item consists of a map titled "Birds Eye View of the Burnaby Lake Area Circa 1910". The overview of the Burnaby Lake area was compiled and drawn at Heritage Village by curator John Adams and artist, Carol Swan. The map identifies the Burnaby Lake inter-urban tram line; roads including: Sperling Avenue (Pole Line Road); Gilpin Avenue; Douglas Road; trail to Vancouver Westminster Road (Kingsway); Buckingham Avenue; Haszard Street; various farms and residences including: Charles Sprott "Norland"; H.T. Ceperley "Fairacres"; Claude Hill's "Brookfield farm" and "Broadview"; F.J. Hart's "Avalon"; Miss Woodward's former and new home, school and post office; Councillor Edgar's hunting cabin; Edgar Sprott's "Mayfield farm" and "Mayfield Lodge"; F.J. Peers "Greyfriars"; Arthur de Windt Haszard; Bernard Hill's boathouse as well as other landmarks including: Doran's Mill; tram stations; Burnaby Lake Store; logging camps; wood cutter's shacks; ice houses; cranberry bog; Still Creek; Deer Lake; Burnaby Lake; Deer Lake Creek; Provincial Government Reserve Proposed Hospital (later Oakalla Prison).

- Short Cuts to Home Sewing - Booklet -- [1930]. Booklet produced by the Singer Sewing Machine Company Incorporated on Short Cuts to Home Sewing: The Modern Singer Way. The booklet is from the Singer Sewing Library - No. 1. The front cover of the booklet has an illustration of two women, one sitting in front of the Singer Sewing Machine, the other standing above looking at the machine. Handwritten on the front cover is "F.A. Gray". On the back cover is an illustration of the globe with a large red "S" in the middle. Written across the globe is "The Sign of Singer Service Throughout the World". The booklet was copyrighted in 1930 and printed in Canada. The booklet measures 14cm x 21cm.
