Description
Dress, c.1925-1929. Green rayon crepe with beige. Straight cut, long sleeves, cross hatched pin tucks and sash on bodice, waist ties, two tiered pleated knee length skirt. The neckline is round; to the right, four narrow vertical pin tucks extend from the shoulder to the waistline, and to the right of that there is a green panel edged with a beige crepe stitched down the right side of the bodice. The sleeves are full length, with cuffs that close with a snap. At the dropped waist, there are straps that tie around the back, which is otherwise plain and unshaped. Below this there are two levels of skirt with tiny box pleats, lined with white cotton. The green panel is edged in beige and hangs down to the end of the top skirt. Its corner is tacked to this skirt. On the left sleeve cuff, there is a label that reads, `Size 38', `11.00', `5' "Deckelbaum & Eisenberg."
Object History
This dress was part of a collection of dresses acquired from a dry goods store in the Okanagan. The dresses were mainly "new" old stock from the 1920s, from two Rand’s Dry Goods stores in Penticton and Summerland, B.C. The stores closed down in 1930. The dresses are estimated to date from circa 1925 to 1930.

Description
Dress, c.1920-1925. Beige rayon crepe with three purple glass brooches. Straight cut, round neckline, plain back, long sleeves, belt, and calf length pleated skirt. The collar starts at right shoulder, goes around the back, and drops through two buttonholes on the left, forming two ties held in place by a brooch. Each brooch has three tear drop 'petal' rhinestones, and a clear round one in the centre. They are set into a metal backing with a safety pin to secure it to the dress. The bottom of the bodice puffs slightly at the dropped waist, accompanied by long ties sewn into the side seams. Below the waistline there are two eye-shaped cut outs with an ecru facing and an olive cotton lining. On the narrow section of each cut out there is a brooch; each is missing one of its purple stones. The long sleeves with small cuffs have a placket that closes with a snap fastener, and a small pleat at each elbow. Below this, there is the skirt with box pleats along the front. The front hem is a narrow machine-stitched edge, but at the back there is a 6 cm hem. The dress has a cotton muslin lining on the front inside of the bodice attached to the waistline, to allow its small puff. Attached to the waistline under the cut out section, there is a band of the same material that lines the cut out section. The pleats of the skirt are attached to this. Attached to the right sleeve cuff is an inspection tag. On the bottom it reads "Deekelbaum & Eisenberg. Montreal."
