Object History
The donors immigrated to Burnaby from England and Sweden in the 1920s. One donor's parents bought three acres of land on Douglas Road, near the west end of Burnaby Lake. In 1927, they moved to a stump ranch on Springer and Union on the south side of Capitol Hill.

Vox Stellarum Old Moore's Almanack - Booklet -- [1861]. Almanack produced by T. Goode and the Lion Steam Printing Office. The Almanack was for 1861 which has been named the Year of Human Redemption. The booklet includes information like fairs in England and Wales, directions for farmers and gardeners, as well as cab fares, taxes and weather. There is no back cover for this booklet.

Up until the 1950s, pharmacists provided most prescription medications by creating compounds of bulk products that were given to customers as pills, salves, or tonics. Large wide-mouthed amber glass (brown) bottle with brown plastic lid, three-quarters full with white powder. Paper commercial label with markings: "[company logo] / MANUFACTURED BY / HOWARDS & SONS LTD. / ILFORD NEAR LONDON. / MAGNES. OXID. POND. The Dead Horse Corner Gazette - Newsletter -- [1916]. The Official Journal of the First Canadian Infantry Brigade called "The Dead Horse Corner Gazette". The journal markets itself as "A Trench Journal of Breezy Comment...". This edition of the journal is Number 3, for June 1916. The journal was published with permission from the General Officer Commanding First Infantry Brigade, B.E.F., on Active Service. There are 12 pages and the journal was priced at one Franc. Description
Part of the 1912 C.W. Parker Carousel. Carousel horse No. 5, "Phar Lap." "Cowboy" style stretched out jumper. Forward neck and head, ears back, mouth open. Colour: This horse is painted like the original Australian race horse, "Pharlap," from the 1930's. Red chestnut, white socks on back legs, white star on forehead. Trappings: - Buckskin or "new leather," toned stippled saddle and fender, with dark brown trim. Coiled lariat hanging from front of saddle, tri-colour English Setter dog head on back of cantle. Revolver hanging from back of saddle on horse's hip. Two saddle blankets in shades of muted turquoise and sea-green, with gold trim and white fringes. Clear and peridot (light green) jewels on blanket, amethyst cabochon jewels on saddle fender. Clear diamond-shaped jewel in sea-green breast collar, banded in gold, with emerald green jewel in gold breast plate. White brown and bluish feathers on shoulder. Deep-toned sea-green bridle, with emerald jewel in gold concho.
Object History
Carousel horse. Part of the C.W. Parker Carousel on display at the Burnaby Village Museum. Name: chosen by Dora and Martina for Claude Mitchell, named for the famous Australian horse that won the Grand National at Aintree, England. Sponsor: Margaret Mitchell.
