Description
Bicycle, delivery boy's style, made by Birmingham Small Arms Co., ( B.S.A. ) of England, manufactured circa 1921. The frame is black with paint chipped off in places. There is black tape around crossbar. The rear, bottom of the back fender is painted white and has a small reflector mounted on it. The seat is supported by two springs. "BSA" is part of the ornamental metal work of the chain wheel; tires are rather flat at bottom.
Object History
The donor acquired the bicycle when she purchased Robertson Hardware Ltd, 4052 East Hastings, in Burnaby. This bicycle was used in Burnaby.

"BSA", forms the spokes of the chain sprocket. "Dunlop Imperial", "26 x 1 1/2", embossed on side of front tire. "Dunlop Carrier" "26 x 1 3/4", "Made in Canada", "136-1", embossed on side of rear tire

The front cover has a picture of Fred Barnes in a suit holding a cane and hat. The phograph was taken by Campbell Gray. At the top of the cover it states that "THIS BOOK MUST NOT BE EXPORTED FOR SALE IN AMERICA, CANADA AND AUSTRALASIA". The front of the cover is torn.

The set is made by "Johnson Bros / England". The company logo features an angular crown. The decoration is a flower motif with a blue stem of red berries and flowers with green leaves in the centre of some of the dishes. There is a band of silver pattern with blue highlights and fruits in angular cartouches around the outside edges of the dishes. The covered serving bowl is 6 cm deep by 26.8 wide by 23.5 across bowl. It has a lid. The bowl has pierced ears as handles and an inner lip for the lid to sit on. A 3 cm chip is out of the inner lip (not visible when the lid is on) The lid has a low swirling handle in the centre and is 20 cm in diameter. The bowl has the band decortion on the top edge and a gold line on the outside of the bowl. The lid has the band decoration on the outside edge.

The china was acquired by Charlotte Latham (possibly) in England. The china was used in Burnaby since at least the 1920's since that's when her and her husband settled in Burnaby. The china was gifted to me (Ivaz) by Charlotte's daughter Frances, a Burnaby-born resident her entire life. Frances passed away in 1998.
