Education Department - Examination Page -- [1915]. High School Entrance Examination for the Education Department of British Columbia for 1915. The exam subject was on Grammar and Composition and two hours were allowed for completion. There are eight main questions, each with multiple sections. The ferries were operated by Nicholson Limited Vancouver. On the back of the ticket is a crest for the Corporation of the City of North Vancouver and another blue X across it.

A steel bladed draw knife with two wooden handles at each end oriented at 90 degrees to the blade. The blade has a metal extension at each end at 90 degrees to the blade. The extensions are recessed within the handles and bent at the ends to hold the blade in place. Markings on the blade are a badly worn number "10" which may refer to the length of the cutting portion of the blade which is 10 inches. Length: 51.8 cm Width: 14.1 cm Height: 3.3 cm

Journal; hand bound journal tied together with three ribbons along the left edge. Green coloured cardstock cover of journal includes hand drawn art nouveau style border illustration and title in black and gold; title in centre reads: "Observations / from / NATURE". Original water-soluable ink drawings of flora and fauna throughout. Nine black and white photographs of Deer Lake and "Class VI Boys" and "Farmerettes of Class VI" working in school garden are glued onto the last seven pages. Preface on page 3 of journal indicates that the content includes personal observations of the woods around Deer Lake made by the author, S. Herbert Price and is dated May 8, 1923. Content on pages within journal document the creator's observations with texts and illustrations between January 1923 and May 1923.
Object History
Sydney Herbert Price was born on December 18 1903 in England to Frank Price (1872-1952) and Ruth Parlour (1875-1941). He was a school teacher for the Burnaby School Board and lived at 6050 Clinton Street, Burnaby. He died in 1969. The family lived at 3113 Royal Oak in Burnaby (later renumbered to 6290). In 1906, his uncle (Herbert Price) purchased the land on which Oakalla Prison Farm was to be built on. The Price family farm grew strawberries and then raspberry canes. The business grew so big that the family hired up to 100 berry pickers to help out.

Toll Bridge Tickets - Tickets. Four connected tickets for crossing the Second Narrows Bridge. The tickets are green with a small drawing of the bridge on them. On the top of each ticket is "00191" The tickets were produced by the Vancouver Harbour Commissioners.
Object History
From Denby Bros. Shoe Store at 163 West Pender in Vancouver. Stafford Ague Denby (1882-1957) started peddling shoe findings in 1918 around Vancouver to repair shops around town from the back of an old Ford. Two of his brothers, William Albert (1873-1947) and Melvin Stanley (1879-1953) joined him in 1919 to form Denby Bros & Co. Ltd Leather and Shoe Findings at 163 West Pender. William Gordon Pope started helping out in the shoe store at the age of 10. He eventually ran the store with his cousin, Pat Denby (son of William A. Denby) starting in the 1950s. The store closed in 1974.

Description
This fruit press or juice squeezer is used to pulp fruit to extract the juice. This heavy, cast iron juicer clamps on a table so that the hand crank is on top and the auger faces down. The auger draws the fruit down and presses it against a sleeve that is a metal strainer. The juice drains out vents in the sides and collects in a ring with a spout that would drain into a bowl. The pulp is forced out the end of the cone at the bottom and is collected in another bowl. Marked "Tutti Frutti" embossed on the clamping part of the machine. "D.R.G.M." "No 198" embossed on the clamping part of machine.
