- The City of Burnaby Archives officially opened on Saturday, November 10, 2001. The Archives is Burnaby's first municipal archives, and is located in the McGill Branch Library. The City Archives functions as a branch of the Office of the City Clerk and operates as the official repository of Burnaby's municipal records, containing records dating back to Burnaby's incorporation in 1892. In 2007, the City of Burnaby Archives expanded its collection mandate to include private as well as public records. On February 14, 2007 an agreement was signed with the Burnaby Historical Society and, as a result, the Archives accepted into its custody the collection of community records that had been maintained and managed by the Historical Society since the 1950s. In the Spring of 2007, these records were transferred from the Burnaby Village Museum to their permanent home in the Archives facility.

- The Ranger Star was available be subscription and was published quarterly in West Burnaby B.C. Editor of quarterly was Joy Mennie and Associate editor, Bessie Carter. This volume belonged to Dorothy Pitman who was a Girl Guide in the 1st Burnaby Company. She was known to be involved with guiding from 1919 to 1931. Textual records and photographs of the Pitman family, including one of Dorothy and her sister Gwen, are held by the City of Burnaby Archives. - Souvenir teaspoon from the 1984 BC Summer Games held in Burnaby.
- The spoon is metal with a silver finish. At the top of the handle there is a small emblem surrounded by a fillagree design. The emblem has a green background with a gold illustrated bee mascot wearing a crown and holding a torch.
- The handle of the spoon has a cross-hatch design.

- This spoon was collected by Donald "Don" N. Brown. Don was involved with the Burnaby Historical Society activities and textual records pertaining to his career with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. he donated many photographs to the City of Burnaby Archives because of his involvement with various community groups including the Oakalla Lands Citizens' Committee, renovations of Burnaby Village Museum, and the restoration of Interurban Tram no. 1223.
