Description: Souvenir Program - Booklet -- [1947]. Booklet produced by the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE) to detail the events and success of the exhibition. The front cover has an aerial photograph of the exhibition grounds with an illustration of a drumming majorette in a red uniform. At the top of the program is "Canada's Show-Window On The Pacific". The PNE was open from August 25 to September 1, 1947. The program cost 25 cents. The program is 21.5cm x 28cm.

Description: English Name: Cassia bark tree Twig Chinese Pinyin Name: Guizhi (GuiZhi) Physical Description: twigs, short, light brown, varying thicknesses, with some ridging and wrinkling along their lengths; some have short pieces branching off, some show a scar where a branching piece has broken off; some are cut or broken to blunt ends, others have bark missing at end, some have protruding bark ends with no wood inside Production Regions: Primarily produced in the Chinese provinces of Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi. Functions: Promotes sweating, resolves the flesh, warms and frees the channels and vessels, assists yang in transforming qi, downbears qi. Apply to wind-cold type of common cold, abdominal cold pain, amenorrhea due to cold blood, joint impediment, phlegm and retained fluid, edema, palpitations, renal mass.

Object History: Collection of original raw contents of the Chinese Herbalist Shop, Way Sang Yuen Wat Kee, Victoria BC, as purchased from Rodney Pain in 1974. Cassia bark twig is also known as Chinese cinnamon and has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. Most of the cinnamon sold in Canada’s supermarkets is Chinese cinnamon.

Description: Chinese New Year envelope; red paper with gummed, fold closure at top; text in Chinese and English in gold reading: "Jagmeet Singh / Leader of Canada's NDP / Burnaby South NDP Candidate / www.jagmeetsingh.ca / Paid for and authorized by official agent of the candidate."; contains a small, square orange-flavoured candy and a thin card; card has the candidate's name and photograph on one side, and the Chinese zodiac on the other.

Object History: Jagmeet Singh is a Canadian lawyer and politician serving as leader of the New Democratic Party since 2017. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for the riding of Burnaby South in a February 25, 2019 by-election.

Object History: Object obtained by the City of Burnaby from the Eagles Estate located within Deer Lake Park. The estate was owned by Dr. Blythe Alfred Eagles (1902-1990) and Dr. Violet Evelyn (Dunbar) Eagles (1899-1993). The couple married in Vancouver in 1930. Dr. Blythe Eagles served as dean of agriculture at U.B.C. from 1949 to 1967. Dr. Violet Eagles was one of Canada's leading enzyme chemists. More information can be found on Heritage Burnaby.

Description: pamphlet; white center-folded paper titled "The Centenary of the Union of the Colonies of Vancouver Island and British Columbia, November, 19, 1866" with a logo of British Columbia Confederation Centennial. In the centre there are two oval headshot photos of "Governor A. E. Kennedy, Vancouver Island" and "Governor F. Seymour, British Columbia" above a drawing of "J.A.R. Homer, High Sheriff reading Proclaimation uniting the two colonies at New Westminster, November 19, 1866." At the bottom "Issued by/ THE CANADIAN CONFEDERATION CENTENNIAL COMITTEE OF BRITISH COLUMBIA" Interior has a story of BC's history and four landscape photos of Victoria and New Westminster in 1866, and Victoria Government Offices in 1868 and Royal Engineers' camp. Back has copy of signed declaration with two seals and signatures.

Object History: Pamphlet was produced as part of the British Columbia Centennial '71 celebrations. It contains a story of the history of the two colonies and their joining to form Canada's sixth province on July 20, 1871. Back of the pamplet has a scan of the 1866 union proclaimation with signatures.
