- The Capitol Hill Community Hall was designed by local architect Harold Cullerne (1890-1976). After Cullerne returned from service during the First World War, he joined J.H. Bowman in a partnership that lasted from 1919 to 1934. After Bowman retired in 1934, Cullerne practiced on his own, continuing to work on schools and institutional buildings, such as the Art Deco Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver. In 1944, Cullerne designed a community hall for Capitol Hill; the scheme was delayed, and redesigned before it was finally built after the end of the Second World War. A simple front gabled roof hall structure, this hall is a monument to community spirit, erected by community members on a volunteer basis, and used for community events for over half a century. The hall replaced two earlier structures, both destroyed by fire, that had served the same purpose.

The tennis court was built by William Parker with help from his son Albert. The court was first made of dirt, then grass with wood layed across to flatten it out. In the late 1920s William made the court out of wood. William and Sarah (nee Love) Parker purchased the Love farmhouse at 1390 Cumberland Road in 1928 after Sarah's father, Jesse Love died. William and Sarah lived there with their three children Albert, Bill and Elsie until 1961.

- Track 1: This portion of the recording pertains to Albert’s family background and how his family came to live in the Love house. He mentions the house on Newcombe Street where he was born and recalls that his family moved to the Love family farmhouse on Cumberland Road in Burnaby to live with his grandfather after his grandmother’s death. Albert notes that his family purchased the house and property after Jesse Love’s death and continued living in it. He describes the house’s amenities and changes which were made to it. He and Jim Wolf discuss the locations and appearances of the various outbuildings on the property.
