- History
- John Archy MacLeod was born in Scotland in 1910 and married Isabella "Bella" McMorran in 1936. The couple lived in Coquitlam from 1953. Archie was employed as a bus driver for BC Hydro (formerly BC Electric) for 33 years. John was part of a team of BC Hydro bus drivers who travelled to London, Ontario to pick up eight new diesel buses to bring back to Vancouver in 1973. Archie retired in 1975 and died in 1990.

- Scope and Content
- Photograph of the interior of the Love farmhouse kitchen. while Elsie (nee Love) Hughes, her husband John and son Brent lived in the house. A large dining table sits in the forefront of the photograph and a wood stove sits against the back wall with a wooden drying rack suspended over top and an electric stove to the right. The house was located at 7651 Cumberland Street (Address pre 1960: 1390 Cumberland Road) and was moved from its original site to the Burnaby Village Museum in 1988 and designated a Municipal Heritage Landmark in 1992. Elsie is the daughter of Sarah (nee Love) and William Parker. Sarah and William purchased the house in 1928, shortly after the death of Sarah's father, Jesse Love. Sarah and William Parker lived in the house with their three children, Albert, Bill and Elsie. William Parker died in 1961 and Sarah continued to live in the house until 1966 before selling it to her daughter Elsie and son in law John Hughes. Elsie and John lived in the house with their son Brent until 1971.

- Photograph of the Mathers house in 1912. There is a family (perhaps the W.J. Mathers family) sitting on the stone-walled patio. Note the electric power pole to the right side of the photograph located close to the house. The house is now part of the Deer Lake Park Complex and is used for various artistic and cultural activities. According to a note prepared by Kathleen and Eileen Mather, the house otherwise known as "Altnadene" was built in 1911-1912 for Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Mathers of New Westminster by architect F.W. Macey who lived on Douglas Road. The house was occupied by the family from late-1912 until mid-1935. The original photographs have been taken by professional photographers.
