Fraser Merchants' Association - Calendar -- [2001]. Calendar for 2001 circulated by the Fraser Merchants Association. The front cover of the calendar has a photograph of a lake and mountains covered in snow at Banff National Park.
There is a page attached at the back of the calendar with the Fraser Merchants Association address, which is the same as the Canada Way Food Market.

British Columbia's Gift - Label. Product label for "British Columbia's Gift / to the / Imperial Government. / Best Pink Salmon". No manufacturer of the product is given on the label, but the label itself was printed by "COLONIST.LITHO". The label states that the quality of the salmon is warranted by the B.C. Government. On the left side of the label is an illustration in blue of the British Columbia provincial coat of arms and two crowns. On the right side of the label is a boxed chart in blue that compares the "RELATIVE FOOD VALUE" of canned salmon to other types of food, such as sirloin steak and fresh eggs. The label measures 25.0cm x 6.2cm.

Cash register, cash drawer, adding machine made by Remington Sperry Rand.
It has four columns of keys for dollars and cents, three additional columns of digit keys, and three columns of keys with various functions on them. An addition bar and cancel button are across the base, and a paper tape at the top.
Sales are not displayed visually by any indicator.
There is a metal cash drawer that has plastic divisions for change and cash.
There is a key that slots into a lock on the left side that controls the machine with a lever.
The register is made of metal and plastic components.

The Nabob brand coffee can is made of metal, It is round and is sealed with a lid. The label is green background, with red letters. There are two cream and gold panels on the side, printed with product information. The label is printed directly on the metal. The lid has text embossed into the metal. The condition of can is good. NABOB NABOB COFFEE COFFEE is a blend of carefully is now irradiated by selected Coffee Beans our special scientific scientifically blended, patended process. thermalo roasted, Reg. Can. Patent iradiated and No. 316050 vacuum packed. NABOB COFFEE is now subjected to See Other Panel the ultra-violat ray and sealed in vacuum- KELLY DOUGLAS packed tins to preserve & CO. LIMITED the natural aroma VANCOUVER, B.C. of the coffee. Nabob was one of the food brands used by the Kelly, Douglas Co. Ltd. The can was manufactured by the American Can Co. of Vancouver, BC., as noted on the label (A. C. Co. Ltd.)

Kelly, Douglas & Co. Ltd. began as a wholesale grocery partnership in 1896 and grew to one of Western Canada's leading wholesaler and retailers of food. (See "From Sour Dough to Super Store" by Bill Davies for more information)

The set is made by "Johnson Bros / England". The company logo features an angular crown. The decoration is a flower motif with a blue stem of red berries and flowers with green leaves in the centre of some of the dishes. There is a band of silver pattern with blue highlights and fruits in angular cartouches around the outside edges of the dishes. The covered serving bowl is 6 cm deep by 26.8 wide by 23.5 across bowl. It has a lid. The bowl has pierced ears as handles and an inner lip for the lid to sit on. A 3 cm chip is out of the inner lip (not visible when the lid is on) The lid has a low swirling handle in the centre and is 20 cm in diameter. The bowl has the band decortion on the top edge and a gold line on the outside of the bowl. The lid has the band decoration on the outside edge.
Object History
The china was acquired by Charlotte Latham (possibly) in England. The china was used in Burnaby since at least the 1920's since that's when her and her husband settled in Burnaby. The china was gifted to me (Ivaz) by Charlotte's daughter Frances, a Burnaby-born resident her entire life. Frances passed away in 1998.

The major B.C.E.R. Main Terminal building at Carrall Street and West Hastings Street in Vancouver and the New Westminster Station at 8th and Columbia included diners where food was served on dishware stamped with the B.C. Electric Railway name.
Marks/Labels
On front face is "COURTEOUS" "B.C. Electric" "SERVICE". On underside in green is "VITRIFIED" then a lion logo with "GLOBE POTTERY Co. Ltd. SHELTON" in a circle around logo. Under logo is "ENGLAND" "BUSCOMBE & COMPANY" "VANCOUVER, CANADA.".
