Green store sign from Canada Way Food Market. Plasticized green sign with white lettering.
There is a 2.5 cm band of residue running the length of the sign at the top and bottom.
Object History
Item was used in the Canada Way Food Market owned by Harry Toy between 1975 and the late 2000s. the building sat vacant until sold in 2023.

Description
Large plastic sign with internal backlighting for advertising. The sign has two sections for ad inserts and one section for price display.
The price display is currently set up advertising the price of packs and cartons of cigarettes
The first bank of prices are 3 digit with small windows that reveal the number on a roller behind. The second bank of prices are 4 digits.
The sign was made by CDA Industries in Scarborough, Ontario and is stamped with "JULY 1986"
There are three labels at the top of the sign including information about how to replace the lamps or reinsert unrolled numbers.
There is a hole at the top of the sign for the electrical cord to come out.
There are two white metal brackets attached to the ends of the sign and there is a rusted chain hanging from each bracket.
The plastic at the bottom right corner on the back is broken and damaged.

Description
Wooden sandwich board advertising Dairyland products. The board consists of two wooden panels that were attached at the top with a piano hinge. The hinge is currently only attached to one panel. The wooden panels are painted white. The paint is chipping in many areas.
Both panels feature the same information and have an large illustration of a cow's head an front body on the bottom left.
The two panels are held together on the back with a rusty metal chain.
Handwritten on the back of one of the panels is "Canada Way Food Market"

Object History
Plane made by Lim Bong for use in the Kwong Chai Tong Herbalist shop at 122 East Pender Street in Vancouver's Chinatown. The business was founded ca. 1915 by Lim Bong's father, Lim Butt (1889-1950) and closed in the 1970s.

Wooden stool with rectangular seat. The legs of the stool are two boards attached to the bottom of the seat go straight down to the ground. There are triangle notches out of the bottom of each board.
In between the legs of the stool is a small board attached to the seat to provide support and structure to the legs.
The pieces are nailed together.
There are two blocks bolted to the under side of the seat.
Object History
These items belonged to the Hong family - who founded Hop On Farms in Burnaby. Heritage Burnaby has a number of photos and an oral history about the family.
Stool made by Gay Tim Hong. Used regularly for 80 years around the family kitchen table for meals. The family often shared meals with the long time, close farm workers and had a table of 10-12 people for lunch everyday.

Swizzle Stick - "DRAGON INN" embossed at top. "VAN & BURNABY - BC" embossed on shaft."PAGE" and "MADE / IN / CANADA" embossed on the reverse side. The stick is molded from green plastic with a chinese fan at the top and a dragon curled around the shaft.
Object History
Dragon Inn belonged to the Lee family. The Dragon Inn restaurant was located at at 4510 Kingsway, on the corner of Kingsway and Willingdon Avenue (opened in the 1970s) and later at Hastings Street near Willingdon (opened in the 1990s). The Dragon Inn was known for its exterior neon sign which was removed in 1997.

A white package with raw ingredients of "Pile-rid Tea" / Sufferers from Piles (hemorrhoids). The cardboard box is covered with a white sleeve. The text is purple and red with a green image on the top and right corner. The box has directions for use and an explanation of what piles are from a medical perspective. The contents of the tea are as follows: pilewort herb, mullein flowers, mullein leaves, red clover tops, calendula flowers, Dal sage, white oak bark, pellitory of the Wall herb, Shepher's purse.
