- Portable audio tape recorder with a time code generator attached underneath the recorder. The tape recorder is a "NAGRA IV - S" model with serical number "0604219", marked as made by "NAGRA KUDELSKI Made in Switzerland 1033 Chessaux Switzerland". Originally intended for use with 5 inch spools, this machine has been adapted to accomodate 7 inch spools. The clear plastic lid is moulded to allow 7 inch spools and wings have been added to the sides to support the larger spools. Toogle switches are recessed and setting switches are flat and notched both to prevent accidental changes while recording. There is no power pack with the machine. There is a battery compartment for 12, "D" size batteries located on the underside of the machine.. The tape machine has a sticker at the centre top reading: "AUDIO CINE SERVICES Inc. [address line struck out] 416-461-5015 FEB 9/99 468 71/2 99068" This may indicate the company and date of the addaptation to the larger spools The attached time code reader is marked "Tape Recorder Module TC 200A" "COHERENT COMMUNICATIONS INC." There are two male, seven pin DIN connectors extending from each side of the time code reader on short 4 to 5 inch blue cables. There are two female RG59 BNC connectors on the back of the module and a female 15 pin digial cable socket. There is a socket for plugging in a time code reader.

- This machine was used by the donor to record sound on TV and movie location shoots in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland. The Nagra IV was preceeded by the Nagra III, which revolutionized the recording of sound for film in the early 1960's. The IV was introduced in 1971 and used until the 1990's.

- Small teacup with a white body and gold handle. Top edge of cup is undulating. Outside it has decorative gold trim at base and top edge, with a leaf band around the middle. Inside it is divided into sections by blue bands with gold leaf trim. The sides are divided into four sections, two side sections feature flowers and the opposite two sections are a decorative field pattern. The bottom of the cup features a flower with a signature. Diameter of top of cup is 7.5 cm. Diameter of bottom of cup is 3.7 cm. The saucer has a white body with the top decorated with blue bands and gold trim. The edge of the saucer is undulating. The bands divide the saucer into six sections, three sections feature flowers and the opposite sections have a decorative field pattern. The centre of the saucer features a flower with a signature. Diameter of saucer is 12.5 cm.

- This is a reproduction piece from a tea service commissioned by Her Majesty Queen Mary. Collected by Mrs. Thomson who lived with her family in the Kerrisdale area of Vancouver.

- This tool box was made by donor's father David, who worked as a machinest at Heaps Engineering in New Westminster. David was born in Scotland in 1882 and immigrated to Canada. He lived in Spruce Street and Telford Street in Burnaby. His children atteneded Kingsway West Elementary School, South Burnaby and King Edward High School.

- Full-keyboard upstrike Smith Premier No. 2 typewriter made by Smith Premier Typewriter Company, 1904. It features a double keyboard, with rows of lowercase letters at the bottom and uppercase letters at the top. It includes typewriter, carrying lid, wooden platform, two typewriter ribbon spools, and an unrelated box that holds the spools.

- Donor found object in an old building in Vancouver, ca. late 1950's - early 1960's. Smith Premier manufactured double keyboards until 1921, long after their competitors had introduced the "Shift" key which allowed each key to type both an upper and lowercase letter.

- Tree pruner or pruning tool with a hook and restractable blade. There is a metal spring action lever one quarter of the way up the shaft attached to a metal rod that runs the remaining length of the shaft up to the blade. The rod is anchored to the shaft in two places. Pulling the lever engages the blade and exposes
- The lever is wrapped in black electrical tape. The metal parts of the pruner are rusted.
- Object History
- These tools belonged to donor's father who had a market garden at his home on 4930 Marine Drive from 1971-79. Her father's name was Yee Law (or Herbert Law). After Yee stopped farming for a living in 1980, he gave these tools to the his daughter Gail and her family (the Yips). They presume that he no longer needed them. He maintained a 1 acre garden on his property until he couldn't anymore.

- Shallow wooden tray. The tray has three slats along the bottom with a small gap between each slat.
- The side of the tray are very worn and weathered with a white haze.
- Included with the tray are 6 thin strips of wood, almost like wood veneer, that are scored at intervals in order to form a wood plant pot. The plant pots would fit inside the tray.
- Object History
- These items belonged to the Hong family - who founded Hop On Farms in Burnaby. Heritage Burnaby has a number of photos and an oral history about the family.
- Used before plastic trays were used more regularly in the 1970s. In the 1970s, the business shifted to selling wholesale bedding plants so the plastic trays were more practical to give away. The wooden trays and pots were taken out to fields for transplanting and cleaned and reused regularly. The donors recall repairing these wooden trays over the winter months. The used the broken pots as bottoms for repaired pots.

- Cylindrical veneer mushroom spawning barrel. The wood has been shaped to make the barrel. There is a base and rim around the top and bottom of the barrel, stapled to hold it together. There are a number of stains, discolourations, ink, and evidence of past mold. There is also a lid with a metal ring afixed to it.
