The Waplingtons lived in the house (1926-1947) and the Flemings (1947-1958). Dowad is noted as owning the property when it was acquired for the site of Heritage Village in 1971 and the house was demolished. The address for Brookfield house was 5016 Deer Lake Avenue (1958-1971) and 3813 Deer Lake Avenue (1926-1958). The address for Elworth house in 1970 was 4950 Deer Lake Avenue. Elworth house was acquired as an integral part of the Heritage Village Museum which opened in November 1971.

Scope and Content: Photograph shows the Burnaby Art Gallery at 6344 Gilpin Street (later 6344 Deer Lake Avenue). Built in 1908 by R. P. Twizell as the private residence of Henry Ceperley. For a time, it was the home of Vancouver's former Mayor Buscombe. In 1940 it was occupied by the Order of Benedictine and later became the communal dwelling of the Canadian Temple of the Universal Foundation of More Abundant Life. The conversion of the estate to a cultural centre was Burnaby's centennial project and the first art show was held in June 1967.

The caption on the reverse of the postcard reads: "Century Gardens was Burnaby's Centennial Project commemorating Canada's 100th birthday. The Corporation bought this mansion and its spacious grounds located on the north shore of Deer Lake. The building was restored and now operates as Burnaby's new Art Centre. The grounds were relandscaped and over 2000 rhododendrons, Burnaby's official flower, were planted to promote the numerous named varieties which can be grown in the lower mainland."

Scope and Content: Photograph of the corner of Elworth house with a view of the yard with garden and pergola looking towards Brookfield house. Elworth house was owned by the Baker family in 1970 and the address for the house was 4950 Deer Lake Avenue. This house was acquired as an integral part of the Heritage Village Museum which opened in November 1971. The white house in the background is identified as "Brookfield" the former residence of Louis Claude and Annie Hill [1895-1906]. Sometime after the Hills moved out, the original one story house was renovated with a basement and second story dormers added. The Waplingtons lived in the house (1926-1947) and the Flemings (1947-1958). Dowad is noted as owning the property when it was acquired for the site of Heritage Village in 1971 and the house was demolished.

Scope and Content: Photograph of the corner of Elworth house with a view of the yard with garden and pergola and garage. The Elworth house was owned by the Baker family in 1970 and the address for the house was 4950 Deer Lake Avenue. This house was acquired as an integral part of the Heritage Village Museum which opened in November 1971. The white house in the background is identified as "Brookfield" the former residence of Louis Claude and Annie Hill [1895-1906]. Sometime after the Hills moved out, the original one story house was renovated with a basement and second story dormers added. The Waplingtons lived in the house (1926-1947) and the Flemings (1947-1958). Dowad is noted as owning the property when it was acquired for the site of Heritage Village in 1971 and the house was demolished.
