- Burnaby's Centennial Project was conceived to re-create a permanent memorial to colonial settlement on the west coast based on the period between 1890 and 1920. The commemorative project was initiated by The Burnaby Centennial '71 Committee in close co-operation with the Burnaby Historical Society, Burnaby Parks and Recreation Commission and Project Consultants: Hopping, Kovach, Grinnell, Design Consultants Ltd.; General Contractor : Ballarin Bros. Ltd; Finish Contractor: Franco Pozzollo - Trevi Construction; Architects: Donald Erb and Associates; Landscape: Burnaby Parks & Recreation; Mechanical: Slinn S.P. and Co. Ltd. and Electrical: Arnold Nemetz Engineering. Student Labour from Douglas College and Simon Fraser University provided by "Operation Ahoy" (in conjunction with the Opportunities for Youth programme). The Century Park Museum Association held it's founding meeting on October 26, 1971 in the Council Chambers of the Burnaby Municipal Hall. The Association was founded under the auspices of the Burnaby Centennial '71 Committee, to adminster Burnaby's Centennial '71 Commemorative project, "Heritage Village" located at Canada Way and Deer Lake Avenue. The original project proposal included a museum, blacksmith shop, buggy and bicycle shop, print shop, general store, green grocery store, ice cream parlour, dentist office, apothecary shop and jail. The first phase of the Heritage Village (Park) was officially opened on November 19, 1971. For the opening the Print Shop, Blacksmith Shop and Pharmacy were operating. The General Store, Land Registry Office, Chinese Store, Bike and Buggy Repair Shop and Barber-Dentist were filled with temporary exhibits illustrating the future plans. The schoolhouse featured a class in penmanship given by Mr. H.B. MacLean to a group of children dressed in period costume. Coffee was served to those attending in the area which will be developed as an Ice Cream Parlour. The Interurban Tram from Kingsway and Edmonds was partially restored for the opening.

The film then transverses into contemporary images and footage of the Burnaby Village Museum which opened in Burnaby on November 19, 1971 in commemoration of British Columbia joining the confederation of Canada. The film’s title text, “Step Back / In Time / at the Burnaby Village / Museum & Carousel” appears a few minutes past the opening footage. Narration continues throughout the film along with interviews with various staff members and museum interpreters. - History
- Valley Bakery was started in Burnaby in 1957 by Gerardus "George" Jacobus Kuyer. George started as an apprentice baker in Holland at age 13 and came from the Netherlands to Canada in 1954. He originally opened Valley Bakery at 4059 Hastings Street, near Gilmore Avenue. The bakery later moved to four other premises over the years, before opening at the present location at 4058 East Hastings Street. Valley Bakery brought European baking to the Burnaby area. Son Jack Kuyer bought the bakery from his father in 1979. Jack was an early adopter of using computers to track inventory in the bakery. As a strong community advocate, Jack was one of a few business owners that worked to halt a Department of Highways plan to rid Hastings Street of all street level parking. He was also integral in launching Hats Off Day, a festival designed for local merchants to show their appreciation for their customers. As of 2019, Hats Off Day is Burnaby's largest street festival. In 2015, the Burnaby Board of Trade inducted Valley Bakery into the Burnaby Business Excellence Awards Hall of Fame. The bakery has been in business for over 60 years as of 2019.

Another dark col., wooden chair sits behind the wicker chair against a wainscoting wall. Above this wooden chair hangs a calendar of the Imperial Bank of Canada with some hooks above it. A long handle broom rests behind the chair. The two chairs appears to be separated by a dividing wall with a sliding pocket door.

- Photographic postcard looking over the Century Gardens, towards the Ceperley House in Deer Lake. The caption on the reverse of the postcard reads: "Century Gardens was Burnaby's Centennial Project commemorating Canada's 100th birthday. The Corporation bought this mansion and its spacious grounds located on the north shore of Deer Lake. The building was restored and now operates as Burnaby's new Art Centre. The grounds were relandscaped and over 2000 rhododendrons, Burnaby's official flower, were planted to promote the numerous named varieties which can be grown in the lower mainland."
