- File consists of a master copy of an article created by Paulene Hall for the newsletter "Guidelines Burnaby Royal Area" - "Accent on the Archives". Burnaby Guide archival materials were compiled from scrapbooks, photographs, newspapers, biographies and research to create articles for the newsletter. Subject matter within this file is about Phyllis Munday. In 1924 Phyllis with her colleague Annette Buck became the first women to reach the summit of Mount Robson. During her lifetime she scaled over 100 peaks many of which were in B.C.'s remote Coast Mountains. At Guiders' conferences Phyllis inspired many young Guiders with her stories about her life and Guiding experiences. Munday was granted the Order of Canada in 1973 for her pioneering efforts and for her dedicated service to the Girl Guides, St. John Ambulance and the Alpine Club of Canada. A stamp was created in her honour in 1998.

- Physical Description
- 1 photograph : b&w postcard ; 8.89 x 12.07 cm
- Material Details
- The photograph is printed on a postcard paper. The postcard is copyrighted by the Chicago Ferrotype Company, 1911. The photo postcard is likely a reproduction of a ferrotype or a tintype photograph because the image tone is darker than B&W photographs printed on paper. The postcard is enclosed in a green folder with a lion face embossing on the cover.
- Scope and Content
- Photographic postcard of 7 unidentified women in white dresses of the turn of the century period. They are all wearing hats, some lavishly decorated with feathers and silk flowers. The five women seated in the front are wearing award ribbons on their chests that say "ANNUAL PICNIC". The rest of the writing on the ribbon is not decipherable. Two women are standing in the back. There appears to be a buliding and landscaped woods in the background.

- Photograph of people riding on a miniature train at the Burnaby Village Museum. The train is a part of the BC Society of Model Engineers (BCSME).
- History
- The BC Society of Model Engineers (BCSME) was formed in 1929 by a group of model train enthusiasts who loved to create minature locomotives. For many years, the club didn't have a track of it's own and relied on private members tracks to run their trains. In 1975, the society found a home on the site of the Burnaby Village Museum where they built a model railway track and station. On July 1, 1975 BCSME opened up to the public enabling them to have a ride on their minature trains. In 1991, BCSME closed their tracks at the Burnaby Village Museum. They relocated to a seven acre site near Confederation Park and reopened to the public on July 1, 1993.

- Photograph of the house built about 1894 that Louis Claud Hill called "Brookfield." Mr. Hill was married that year to Annie Sara Kendrick, and they took up residence in the house until 1906 when they sold the property and built a new home in the vicinity of Buckingham and Sperling. Brookfield was still on the property when the Burnaby Village Museum was planned in 1971 as Heritage Village, but it was torn down to make room for other buildings on the site. An acquisition record notes that this house stood immediately behind the Elworth House, and Colonel Peers' (the donor) mother was born in this house in 1898. Annotations on the back of the photo read, "1896 'Brookfield'" and "The residence of Mr.+Mrs. LC Hill, the first residence on the site of Heritage Court. It stood immediately behind what is now called the Manor House. Built about 1894."
