- Photograph of the Thomas O. and Frances Townley mansion known as Deerholme built in 1913 at Deer Lake by Vancouver's pioneer and 1901 Mayor, Colonel Thomas Owen Townley, and his wife Frances. The home was designed by their son Fred Laughton Townley, who had just returned from the University of Pennsylvania where he had received a degree in architecture. The Townley's enjoyed their estate until 1920 when they rented the house to the Cunningham family before selling the property to the Vancouver Anglican College.The college held the building until 1940, when it was again sold and was owned by various owners who came and went. Finally, the Loftus family sold the property to the City of Burnaby in 1979. The house remains leased as a private residence and was dedicated as a civic heritage site in 1992.

- History
- Part of a set of photographs from the Columbian Newspaper, which operated out of New Westminster under this name starting in 1900 until its dissolution in 1988. Photographs found in the collection of the Burnaby Village are dated 1971. George Black (1831-1896). He was born in Aberdeen Scotland, and went to California, then to the Cariboo during the gold rush. He eventually settled on Hastings Street, and was well known in the surroundings of Vancouver.

- Photograph of the home belonging to Maude and Harriet Woodward, early residents of the Burnaby Lake area. The cottage was a prefabricated building designed by J.J. Mahoney and architect Joseph Bowman and was manufactured in Vancouver by the B.C. Mills Timber and Trading Company and erected here in 1904. Maude Woodward established a post-office here which was operated by her sister, Harriet. Harriet also began a small private school here, the first in Burnaby Lake. The cottage was enlarged with several additions until 1912 when the Woodwards built a new house.
