- screw plate gauge; coffin-shaped steel plate with a series of thirty-six tapered holes drilled through it in two lines; each tapered hole has an associated notch; the pairs of holes are numbered 0 to 16 (0 is used twice); "36 / MARTIN FILS / L" stamped into top of one side and "GARANTIE" stamped along same; used to cut threads into screws of varying sizes; the tapered holes allow the metal shavings from the screw cutting to break clear.
