- Photograph of Cathy Stramoen, a blind Simon Fraser University student sitting at a desk with a tape recorder beside her, and her husband Dave, who is also an SFU student. Cathy is not happy because SFU does not have facilities for tape-recording books that UBC does, and with the cutbacks, "budget restraints forced the Crane Library to restrict its efforts to helping UBC students." She wrote a letter of complaint to then deputy minister of education Walter Hardwick, saying that "the Provincial government was cheating blind university students out of an education" by not providing this service.
