pharmaceutical tin. Tall, rectangular metal tin with square pull-off lid; painted green with black text and design. The item is a bulk product stocked by a pharmacy. Up until the 1950s, pharmacists provided most prescription medications by creating compounds of bulk products that were given to customers as pills, salves, or tonics. Manufactured by "CHOICE / BOTANIC DRUGS / PRESSED / ... / PARKE, DAVIS & CO. / MANUFACTURING CHEMISTS". Original contents labels are painted red with black text. Original contents label on lid reads: "ELDER FLOWERS". Soiled paper label adhered over original contents label on front of tin reads "...ERS / ...PTUS LEAVES / ...MPAN ROOT" in typewritten black text.
