In May 1989, Burnaby Village Museum agreed to provide a home for the carousel and the "Friends", led by President Don Wrigley, set about raising the $350,000 to purchase the machine. Keith Jamieson, a carousel expert, was brought in to coordinate the rebuilding project. With a lot of hard work, the help of the Government of British Columbia and the support of the Municipality of Burnaby, the carousel was purchased. Funds were also raised to pay for the restoration, and Burnaby agreed to build a new pavilion for it as a Centennial project.

- Fonds consists of a collection of photographs taken by Faye Stebner Diamond documenting the restoration and installation of the C.W. Parker Carousel no. 119 carousel, undertaken by the Lower Mainland Association of the Friends of the Vancouver Carousel "Friends of the Carousel". Detailed photographs document the restoration process from start to finish and the installation of the carousel inside the Don Wrigley Pavillion at Burnaby Village Museum. Some of the photographs may have been taken by Ken Diamond.
- History
- Faye (Stebner) Diamond was born in Burnaby to parents, Ethel Coe (Uter) Stebner and Edward A. "Ed" Stebner.
Faye (Stebner) Diamond and her husband Ken Diamond were both involved in the restoration of the C.W. Parker no. 119 carousel from start to finish. Faye Diamond, was one of the very active volunteers of the Friends of the Carousel during the restoration, and served on the committee that chose paint colours for the horses. Her father, Ed Stebner, was also a volunteer. Faye and her mother Ethel, along with Ken Diamond, were responsible for the restoration of the carousel horse Mignonette, named after Mignon Uter (nee Coe), Faye's maternal grandmother who came to Burnaby in 1918 with her parents, James and Elizabeth Coe. The Stebner family also sponsored the carousel horse Mr. Ed, in recognition of Faye's father. Faye Diamond photographed and documented much of the restoration process.
The Parker Carousel was restored by a number of avid volunteers from The Lower Mainland Association of the Friends of the Vancouver Carousel (Friends of the Carousel), which was created in 1989 to raise funds to rescue the Parker Carousel no. 119 from Playland at the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE). In May 1989, Burnaby Village Museum agreed to provide a home for the carousel and "Friends of the Carousel" set about raising the $350,000 to purchase the machine. The carousel opened inside the Don Wrigley Pavilion at the Burnaby Village Museum in March 1993.

- Carousel horse. Part of the C.W. Parker Carousel on display at the Burnaby Village Museum, sponsored by Dorothy E. Wrigley and Cice Brown. Dorothy Wrigley explains "The arrival of our first grandchild was a joyful occasion for the Wrigley family but it was some time before the tiny baby girl received her name, Saralyn. In the meantime, she was referred to with much love as the little Guppy." (Dorothy Wrigley decided to sponsor a horse to commemorate the birth of her grandchild, and fellow-volunteer Cice Brown asked to be a co-sponsor for her grandchildren too.)
"When I was thinking about sponsoring a horse to commemorate the birth of our granddaughter, Cice Brown expressed the wish to co-sponsor a horse for her several grandchildren and a wonderful idea sprang to mind...we decided to jointly sponsor this gentle "stargazer" and name it guppy for the joy of all grandchildren."
"Prior to the miracle of birth, we are all like little 'guppies,' small fishes swimming around, growing and waiting to enter the merry-go-round of this complex world. Each one of us is someone's grandchild...may many guppies experience the joy of riding this carousel."

- Carousel horse. Part of the C.W. Parker Carousel on display at the Burnaby Village Museum. Name: "The name Nipoti is Italian for grandchildren - honouring our grandchildren who have Italian great-grandparents interlaced throughout our family tree. The Italian connection has its roots in the USA, where a great-grandmother lived, and from where (of different fami¬ly roots) a great grandfather emigrated." Coincidentally the US flag is prominently featured in the decoration of this horse. (Many are familiar with "nepotism," meaning favouritism shown to persons related to those in high office.)
