- Burnaby Municipal Police shoulder bar for jacket. Cast in one piece in metal. Letters are connected by integral bars. Secured by mounting posts and cotter pin.
- Object History
- Jacket shoulder bars issued to Constable George Jeffery. George Jeffery served as a Constable on the Burnaby Police Force from 1912 - 1935. His patrolled the large Central Park District by foot, stretching from Boundary to Royal Oak and Marine Drive to Moscrop. Over the coarse of his duties, Constable Jeffery saw the need for recreational activities in the area. He founded the Burnaby Athletic Association which featured a competitive boxing ring and gym. In 1935, when the Burnaby Police became the British Columbia Provincial Police, rather than leave the community he chose to leave the force. George Jeffery than worked at the nearby Oakalla Prison Farm until retiring in 1945.

- Button pin, round, buff ground with wide brownish red border and green print. Around edge from left, "JULY / AUG / SEPT". Logo below 'AUG', illegible, "LI--HA" ?, then "1920". At bottom is brownish red dot at centre of "U.B.M.W.E.R.S.L." in circle. Pin is paper formed over a metal back and held in place by pressure. Clear coating over front. Back is dark metal with remains of pin clasp closure ?, coil of wire one side, lighter-coloured patch of metal around opening other side. Back is hollow. Manufacturer's stamp, mostly illegible, "--- CO" "--H.N.Y." and hallmark ?. Metal of back is tarnished, some scratches and wear on front.
- Object History
- Union dues button for the United Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees and Railroad Shop Laborers which was affiliated with the American Federation of Labour. The road, going up, on the left, barely visible is McKay Avenue = lower corner. Behind Fair Haven is the future David Gary Park cleared in the late 1950's - then more trees were felled in October 1962 with Hurricane Freda (blown over, uprooted trees) that left the park as it is today in 1993. The top row of little (5) white cottages were moved from the N.W. corner of Willingdon and Kingsway where Old Orchard Mall is now - they were part of Old Orchard Auto Villas, the first Fair Havens. Note: All cottages on right side of Lodge have been moved to Vancouver Island in 1991 for Motel units - by barge."
