- Scope and Content
- Photograph of a truck owned by the Edmonds Coal and Wood Yard decorated for a parade with flags, streamers and vines. There are discrepancies in the inscription, catalogue records, and accompanying note. An annotation in black ink reads, "A small part of Burnaby / Confederation Day Parade," but an annotation in blue ink reads, "Year 1937? / May Day." The accompanying note suggests that the parade was part of Burnaby May Day at Central Park. Also noted is that the Edmonds Wood Yard was opened in 1910 by Bill McDonald at 1500 Edmonds Street (later renumbered as the 7200 block) and Kingsway. In 1916 Murdoch McMurray (the driver in the photograph) partnered with Emerson Doran, nephew of the owner of Doran's Mill (an early mill in Deer Lake), to buy the business from Mr. McDonald. They in turn sold out very shortly to Fred Robbins. In 1921 Murdoch McMurray and Emerson Doran, along with Jack McMurray, bought the wood yard back and ran it until 1947 when they sold it to Norman Ritchie. Stamped on back of photo: "692."

There is a group of boys with caps [boy scouts] standing, facing the group on the stairs, in the foreground. The occasion is not known. A. McLean served as Reeve of Burnaby from 1921-1926 and again in 1928.

- Photograph of a group of people gathered along the side of a street in front of the Municipal Hall on Edmonds, with a large sign that reads, "EARL HAIG WELCOME TO BURNABY". The crowd is mostly men in suits, women in dresses and hats, and two girls. There are flags and streamers flying in the background. According to the accession register, they are the Welcome Committee for the visit of Earl Haig to Burnaby Municipal Hall. Only three people in the photograph have been tentatively identified: In the centre of the picture, directly behind the little girl it appears to be L. Claude Hill and to the right of him, his wife Annie. The third man to the left of Claude Hill appears to be Burnaby Reeve Thomas F. Sanderson. The rest are unknown.

Lord Willingdon and other dignitaries are standing in front of the entrance. The doorway is decorated with a sign that reads, "WELCOME TO BURNABY LORD WILLINGDON" There is a woman climbing up the steps towards Lord Willingdon. Lord Willingdon was Canada's Governor General at that time. The photographer is speculated to be Lloyd studio, because of the similarity with the photograph HV977.17.15 of Lord Willingdon's visit by Lloyd studio
