The family lived in West Burnaby on Rupert St. from approximately 1920 to late 1930's. Robert worked replacing the roof on the Hotel Vancouver during the 1930's. Robert moved to Powell River to work in the 1940's but the family retained the house in Burnaby. The artifacts were made by Robert or purchased as gifts for Vera when she was about 5 / 6 years old.
