In his letter, Colin tells how he is out of hospital and in a covalescent depot; his plans to visit his girlfriend in Bournemouth on his upcoming leave; his girlfriend's recent visit; a letter and family photo that he received from Catherine M. Bateman; how he's going to try and get some photographs taken while he's on leave and how he expects the war to be over soon.

Esther’s daughters are also present at the interview.
