Description
Wooden frame around two rectangular shaped windows with a wooden separation bar. The frame and windows are both dark (brown/black). The wooden frame appears to be composed of mahogony. The windows are composed of a glass-like material yet do not appear to be ordinary glass. One side of the windows has a scallop shell pattern and the other side is plain. Two holes are drilled through the edges of the frame at the midpoint. Length: 114 cm Width: 25 cm Thickness: 2.1 cm

B.C.E.R. tram number roll mounted within a steel metal frame which is painted green inside and on the sides and black on the front. Two canvas rollers mounted side by side with white painted numbers. Each roller is mounted to the metal stand with two cylindrical pins with finger wheels at the top. There are four wheels at the top for changing the number display. The metal frame has two flanges at the bottom with holes for mounting on the top front of a streetcar.
Object History
Item used on the PCC streetcars. These reference numbers followed the trains as they took the train out of the barn for the day, in the case of an accident or other tracking reason.

A steel, black painted square box with a bell and striker protruding from the bottom. On the front cover is stamped "FARADAY ESS CO. CAR SIGNAL SYSTEM 53812". Painted at the bottom is B25. At the back is printed "550V-C-16150". A piece of blue tape attached to one side has "BCER 374-B25" stamped on it. The front cover is attached with four screws at each corner.
Object History
Item used on the PCC street cars in the 1950s. This was the bell to inform the motorman/driver that a passenger wanted to disembark.

B.C.E.R. white signal flag on wooden pole. The flag is discoloured and torn. The pole is tapered at the bottom end. The flag is attached to the pole via a vertical slit in the pole. Flags or signal lamps on the front of the tram communicated information about the train to passengers and workers. Two white flags (or white lights at night) on the front indicated that the tram was a “special” (not a regularly scheduled train).

A wooden frame containing a report printed on paper. A spare backing board accompanies the frame. The frame is painted a cream colour and has a hole on each side. At the top of the certificate is "MONTHLY POWER UNIT INSPECTION AND REPAIR REPORT" with the number "40256" on the left. The report is for a BCER electric locomotive Number 992 dated May 11, 1955. Object History
The donor's family were early settlers to Burnaby, and he worked for the BCER as an electrician. Donor was the original owner of the property that the Burnaby Village Museum now occupies. The writing slope was used widely in the 1800s. It was mainly used in the late 1700s during colonial expeditions, and military travel. It became very popular in Victorian times for lay people and used in many homes. It provided a portable desk, complete with a soft writing surface (felt or leather), compartments for ink, pens, and paper. It was considered to be a personal item, rather than a household one.

Cow bell made of rivetted sheet steel. It has a paper label with the word "SARGENT" and a plowing scene printed on it, glued to one lone side. The metal has been painted a gold colour. On the opposite long side is a scratched in inscription indicating the bell was donated by Claude Hill

The donor's family were early settlers to Burnaby, and he worked for the BCER as an electrician. Donor was the original owner of the property that the Burnaby Village Museum now occupies.
