- Photograph of Fred Blake in uniform with his hands resting on the book "The B.C. Fire Fighters." Fred Blake was an early volunteer of the Burnaby Fire Department and became one of the North Burnaby's first paid members in 1939. He came up through the ranks to become Training Officer for the department in 1949, and full time training officer with the rank of District Chief in 1952. Fred was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1966 before retiring from service March 1, 1972.

Peggy is the daughter of Mrs. W. Barley of 697 Richmond Street and received this distinction at a ceremony at the All Saints South Burnaby Church when she passed from the 2nd Company to the Royal Oak Sea Rangers. Peggy was first a Girl Guide in eastern Canada before moving to Burnaby when she joined the 2nd Burnaby Company.

They had two daughters: Janice and Mary Louise. They grew berries, fruit and vegetables for home and for sale, and raised bees. People came from miles around to purchase strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes and honey. In 1962 the Wuzinski property was expropriated by the Municipality of Burnaby, and the family purchased another property nearby. They started a new garden, brought the bees, and transplanted several trees to the new property.
