Elmer and others at the table are dressed in military uniforms. The table has long white table cloths and saw horse supports are visible underneath. Two other tables on either side of the hall include men in military and civilian dress. A large mural is visible on a stage at the back of the room. A sign on the wall, hanging beneath a portrait of an unidentified man, advertises a dance at the I.O.O.F. hall.
