The couple were married in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on November 9th, 1886. They had four daughters and three sons. After Cassie died in Portage La Prairie in 1909 Edwin married her sister Mary Dale. E. W. Bateman was the builder and the first owner of the Elworth house.
