whistle, Girl Guides; silver metal whistle on white cotton string lanyard; plating is coming off surface of whistle.
Object History
Whistle belonged to Dorothy Pitman who was a Girl Guide in the 1st Burnaby Company. She was known to be involved with guiding from 1919 to 1931. Textual records and photographs of the Pitman family, including one of Dorothy and her sister Gwen, are held by the City of Burnaby Archives. Dorothy and Gwen's parents, Ernest and Jean Pitman, owned McKay Dry Goods and Jubilee Dry Goods.

File consists of images and selected contents from a scrapbook with 38 double sided pages containing mostly photographs with some newspaper clippings, written material and emphemera including a page of badges and ribbons which reads "Enrolment & Membership Card of / Joan Bailey 1926 / 1st Burnaby" and an embroidered alphabet of the Morse Code. The third page of the scrapbook includes a four page chronology titled "History of Guiding - Burnaby / 1913 - 1960" compiled by Mrs. Dolly Weber, Mrs. J. Heaps, Miss Eileen Periton, Mrs. J. Albertson and D. Fowler. The scrapbook also includes an original letter and post-script from Lady Olave Baden-Powell to Mrs. Fowler dated November 5, 1961; a typewritten copy of: "TSOONA" / PROVINCIAL GUIDE CAMPSITE - ROSEDALE B.C." and a three page typewritten copy of "THE CAMPFIRE / Volume 1, No. 4 _ November 1935 _ Vancouver, B.C.". A wooden frame containing a report printed on paper. A spare backing board accompanies the frame. The frame is painted a cream colour and has a hole on each side. At the top of the certificate is "MONTHLY POWER UNIT INSPECTION AND REPAIR REPORT" with the number "40256" on the left. The report is for a BCER electric locomotive Number 992 dated May 11, 1955. There are 17 entries which are filled in for the report. Length: 27.4 cm Width: 19.7 cm Thickness: 1.7 cm

B.C.E.Co.Ltd Car Report Card - Report. Buff paper with black print; "B.C.E. Co. Ltd. CAR REPORT CARD". The card is unused. At the top of the card is space for the date, barn and car number. The chart headers are time on, time off, line, run, mileage or hours, condition of car, time trouble developed, signature of motorman & conductor. Front page shows "Register No. _____. / Nelson Ave. (handwritten) / Public School / Province of British Columbia / Pupil's Monthly Record Card." Back page shows "Parent's Signatures" and A. Impett has signed it three times. Inside view of the school report card for Elsie Impett issued by Nelson Ave. Public School on June 30, 1915. She is listed as a "senior". Report card lists the months of January to June with columns for No. of Sessions, Times Late, General Conduct, Special Demerits, Reading, Writing, Arithmetic & Bookkeeping, Drawing, Composition, Nature Studies, Geography, British & Canadian History, Algebra, English Grammer, Literature and Spelling. Teacher J.G. Whiten has handwritten Elsie's grades and wrote a comment "Elsie has done excellent work.".
Object History
Elsie Impett (later MacDonald) was born in 1902 in England. Her family setted at Fenwick Avenue, Burnaby. She worked as a clerk and married James MacDonald in 1923 in New Westminster.
