- Caption from metadata: "Dan Pederson takes a closer look at some of the 3,000 pins in his collection, at the Pacific Pin Club's first public show and sale at the Capitol Hill Community Centre. Pederson says he started collecting pins in 1984, at the Los Angeles Olympics and he's travelled to various competitions like the Commonwealth, Pan Am and Canada Games to amass his collection. "I like to trade with the actual athletes," he says. "Every pin has a story." The Pin Club has about 44 members from Vancouver Island to Alberta. It started when collectors, who started accumulating pins during Expo 86, started getting together to compare and trade their finds. The club meets monthly."

The “Trefoil Guild” ribbon was an official ribbon that could be worn to vertically display Guiding pins and badges. The ribbon is no longer used. 1) Original Trefoil Guild pin with red banner (poss. awarded to Eleanor in New Brunswick), 2) BP pin (100th anniversary of Baden-Powell’s birthday – an earned pin), 3) World pin, 4) Thank-you badge (silver ring around blue enamel Trefoil with three white enamel swirls - poss. a thank-you from New Brunswick), 5) Long Service badges for 20, 50, 55 and 60 years - 50, 55 & 60 years awarded here (55 & 60 were awarded by Pauline Hall herself) – all earned pins) 6) Division Commissioner (red enamel trefoil) – an earned pin & poss. given in New Brunswick (it is older than the pin removed from the white camp hat that was not retained) 7) Silver Commissioner Pin (silver with blue enamel trefoil and ring, beaver at bottom) on cloth Commissioner Lapel Badge (silver ribbon of courage tied into reef knot, text “GIRL GUIDES” and outline in white stitching.) - cloth badge poss. to indicate Provincial Commissioner - this pin and cloth badge were removed from the bottom of the ribbon due to excessive weight.

- Object History
- Object originated with the Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. The "Frank Bowser" presenting the trophy was Kerrisdale resident Francis "Frank" Bowser. He was a member of the Kerrisdale Lawn Bowling Club, ca. 1918, and was elected President of the Lower Mainland Lawn Bowling Association in 1919. The Bowser trophy was awarded to the winner of a competition between the various Lower Mainland bowling clubs. Each team entering had to be skippered by the president of that club. The winning team for the 1923 cup was from the Central Park Club in Burnaby (The Vancouver Sun - 16 Dec 1923). Francis "Frank" Bowser (1857-1929) came to Vancouver around 1885 and went to work with Dominion Customs, retiring in 1908 as chief landing waiter. He was elected reeve of Point Grey in 1912 and served two terms in office. His brother was former B.C. premier W.J. Bowser. (see Obituary in The Vancouver Sun - 26 Sep 1929).

- Embossed cup shaped trophy with handles on either side, mounted on a round, 15.3 cm diameter, wooden base. The overall height ofthe cup is 37.5 cm and overall width is 24.5 cm. This cup has been worked by hammering the surface designs from the inside rather than applying cast decoration. There are silver halmarks stamped on the underside of the cup inicating that the maker was Thamas Bradbury & Sons Ltd Company (1905 to 1943). On the front "PRESENTED TO/ BURNABY LAWN BOWLING CLUB/ BY/ A.E.S.WOOD/ 1923

Pitman" presenting the trophy may be Burnaby resident Ernest Pitman, owner of the McKay Dry Goods and Jubilee Dry Goods stores. "Mrs. E. Pitman" won the trophy several times. She was likely Ernest's wife, Jean Pitman. 1939 winner Mrs. G. Jeffery was likely Harriet (Philpot) Jeffery, wife of George Jeffery. 1947 winner Mrs. S. Swan was likely Constance "Connie" (Bates) Swan, wife of Sydney Swan. Sydney was the brother of Alice Digney. Film footage of the Swans' and Digney's can be seen in accession BV019.18.

Francis "Frank" Bowser (1857-1929) came to Vancouver around 1885 and went to work with Dominion Customs, retiring in 1908 as chief landing waiter. He was elected reeve of Point Grey in 1912 and served two terms in office. His brother was former B.C. premier W.J. Bowser. (see Obituary in The Vancouver Sun - 26 Sep 1929).

- Object originated with the Burnaby Lawn Bowling Club. The "Weart" presenting the trophy was John Walter Weart (1861-1941), Reeve of Burnaby from 1911 to 1912. 1942,1946 and 1947 winner Mrs. G. Jeffery was likely Harriet (Philpot) Jeffery, wife of George Jeffery. 1940 winner Mrs. W. Poole was likely Mabel Annie (Conway) Poole, wife of William Poole. Their son, Albert "Bert" William Poole, was married to Patricia "Trixie" (Jeffery) Poole, daughter of Harriet and George Jeffery.

- Interviewees' biographies: The Bollywood Boyz are a Canadian professional wrestling tag team composed of brothers Gurvinder "Gurv" Sihra (born in 1984) and Harvinder "Harv" Sihra (born in 1987). The pair are best known for their time in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where Gurvinder and Harvinder performed under the ring names Sunil Singh and Samir Singh. They were both born and raised in Burnaby by their parents Harjeet and Parveen Sihra and attended Moscrop Secondary School. Gurvinder graduated from Douglas College where he studied criminology and has worked in loss prevention and has a third degree black belt in Taekwondo. Harvinder attended Douglas College with studies in history and has worked as a model and an actor. Both Gurvinder and Harvinder Sihra are Sikhs. Interviewer biography: Rajdeep was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and is of Punjabi (South Asian) descent. She has an Associate of Arts degree in Asian Studies from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Anthropology from the University of British Columbia. She is a student in the Restoration of Natural Systems program at the University of Victoria. Rajdeep works at Simon Fraser University as a Program Assistant and as a researcher with the City of Burnaby. At Burnaby Village Museum, Rajdeep contributed to the exhibit “Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby”.
