Members of the public, Mayor Bob Prittie and members of the Burnaby Centennial '71 committee are present for the sod turning event. Mayor Bob Prittie turns the sod with a large tractor with a front end scoop.

As a teacher in Eriksdale, Manitoba, Rhoda Mae Jeffers may have been a part of this parade. The road is lined with buildings, including one with a large sign reading: "SMITH / GARAGE".
