Description: Wooden frame around two rectangular shaped windows with a wooden separation bar. The frame and windows are both dark (brown/black). The wooden frame appears to be composed of mahogony. The windows are composed of a glass-like material yet do not appear to be ordinary glass. One side of the windows has a scallop shell pattern and the other side is plain. Two holes are drilled through the edges of the frame at the midpoint. Length: 114 cm Width: 25 cm Thickness: 2.1 cm

Object History: This handrail was used on the BC Electric Railway interurban 1222.

Description: B.C.E.R. white signal flag on wooden pole. The flag is discoloured and torn. The pole is tapered at the bottom end. The flag is attached to the pole via a vertical slit in the pole. Four screws pass through the pole, flag and slit. Pole: Length: 63 cm Diameter: 2.5 cm Flag: Length: 43.5 cm Width: 33 cm

Object History: Flags or signal lamps on the front of the tram communicated information about the train to passengers and workers. Two white flags (or white lights at night) on the front indicated that the tram was a “special” (not a regularly scheduled train).

Description: A wooden frame containing a report printed on paper. A spare backing board accompanies the frame. The frame is painted a cream colour and has a hole on each side. At the top of the certificate is "MONTHLY POWER UNIT INSPECTION AND REPAIR REPORT" with the number "40256" on the left. The report is for a BCER electric locomotive Number 992 dated May 11, 1955. There are 17 entries which are filled in for the report. Length: 27.4 cm Width: 19.7 cm Thickness: 1.7 cm

Object History: Report is very detailed covering 17 items and is certified by three individuals. Report is dated May 11, 1955 and pertains to the Electric Locomotive number 992.

Description: A brass and steel controller used for opening and closing cell doors at Oakalla Prison. The top is composed of a brass plate and is round in shape. A brass handle is present in the center of the plate and rotates to aim a pointer at any of numbers 1 to 9 and the letter A at the beginning of the numbers. The handle is spring loaded and can rotate whenever it is pushed down releasing it from a pin. Under this brass plate are two steel gears held within a steel frame all of which are held together with locking nuts. Markings on the top of the brass plate: "A" and the numbers in consecutive order from "1" to "9" . The numbers 7, 8 and 9 have been stamped in and appear to have been added later whereas the numbers "1" to "6" are present in raised format. The number "7" appears twice likely since the handle only locks at that point in between the two "7s" Markings on the small gear: "KANA" "NK 40B 15".
