- Item consists of a typewritten letter from Sergeant Colin Rhodes Fox of the Royal Canadian Artillery Service to his parents, Ernest and Jessie (Bateman) Fox while serving overseas during World War II. Colin Fox served in the 13th Canadian Field Regiment with the 44th and 78th Canadian Field Battery. In his letter, Colin tells of how he is now back with his regiment (after his release from hospital) but has been reasigned to the 78th Canadian Field Battery instead of the 44th as was previous; how many of the fellows in his troop have lost their third stripe and how he hopes that he doesn't lose his since it means a cut in pay; how many of the villages and homes where he is have been destroyed leaving many civilians homeless and the infantry are also having a tough time.
