Administrative History
The annotations spells his name as "Philips," but the catalogue record speculates that perhaps the man is George Phillips, after whom Phillips Avenue was named. George Phillips' early home was east of that Avenue and north of Lougheed Highway. When in 1916, Mr. Phillips persuaded Burnaby to cut a road from Phillips Avenue to his residence, it was named George Street. For reference, see George Green's "History of Burnaby," p. 167. The location is unidentified. Council Minutes on June 21 1915 confirm this.
