Side one: Chinese characters literally translate to: "sky/heaven/day/god";"immortal/celestial being/a surname";"son/seed/viscount/you". When adjusted for English comprehension, label is for semen hyoscyami. It’s normally found in Hebei, Henan, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Shanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Ningxia. Its tastes bitter and has light smell. It helps with asthma and soothing the nerves. It’s a good treatment for epilepsy, stomach cramps, diarrhea and also helps with toothache. Side 2: Chinese characters literally translate to: "nine/many";"greens";"son/seed/viscount/you". When adjusted for English comprehension, label is Chinese leek seed. The seed is in the shape of semi-circular or oval. The length is 3-4mm, the width is about 2mm. The color is in dark black. It has the unique smell and tastes a little bit spicy. It’s treatment of impotence dream, urinary frequency, and diarrhea. Side 3: Chinese characters literally translate to: "hundred/numerous/centum";"son/seed/viscount/you";"benevolence/kernel/humanity/sensitive". When adjusted for English comprehension, label is for arborvitae seed. It’s collected during Fall and Winter season. It’s found in Guangdong, Guangxi, Shanxi, Gansu, Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. It helps to soothe the nerves. It’s treatment of convulsions, insomnia, night sweats and constipation. Side 4: Chinese characters literally transate to: "gold/golden/metals/money;"retreat/withdraw/quit/recede/fade". Not possible to translate.

Label on side 1 contains 2 Chinese characters that are literally translated to: "yellow"; "refined", "perfect", "extractive". When adjusted for English comprehension, product is "Manyflower Solomonseal Rhizome, Siberian Solomonseal Rhizome, King Solomonseal Rhizome". The herb is normally collected during Spring and Fall season. It’s a good support for lungs, spleen and kidney. It also supports coughing and diabetes. It’s also a good treatment for physical weakness and dysentery. Label on side 2 contains 3 Chinese characters that are literally translated to: "benefit", "beneficial", "profit", "increase", "increasingly"; "mother", "female", "origin", "nut", "venter"; and "grass", "straw". When adjusted for English comprehension, product is: "Motherwort Herb". The fresh herb will be collected during the Spring time and early Summer time. The dried herb collects during Summer and Fall season. It helps with blood circulation and swelling. It’s also a treatment for irregular menstruation, fetal leakage, difficult labor, abdominal pain, hematuria, and diarrhea. Label on side 3 contains 4 Chinese characters. One of which is literally translated to: "leaf", "foliage page", "lobe". There is no adjusted English translation. The other characters are indistinguishable.

Object History
The major B.C.E.R. Main Terminal building at Carrall Street and West Hastings Street in Vancouver and the New Westminster Station at 8th and Columbia included diners where food was served on dishware stamped with the B.C. Electric Railway name.
Marks/Labels
On front face is "COURTEOUS" "B.C. Electric" "SERVICE". On underside in green is "VITRIFIED" then a lion logo with "GLOBE POTTERY Co. Ltd. SHELTON" in a circle around logo. Under logo is "ENGLAND" "BUSCOMBE & COMPANY" "VANCOUVER, CANADA.".

The third member of hiking party, Art Hilton (not pictured), took this photograph. Dave Gray, a famous baseball player and later teacher, was an all-round athlete who once taught Bob Wood. David Gray Park and swimming pool in South Burnaby were named after him.

Description
The set is made by "Johnson Bros / England". The company logo features an angular crown. The decoration is a flower motif with a blue stem of red berries and flowers with green leaves in the centre of some of the dishes. There is a band of silver pattern with blue highlights and fruits in angular cartouches around the outside edges of the dishes. The desert plate is18 cm diameter. The band decoration is around the rim of the plate with the stem design in the centre of the plate.
Object History
The china was acquired by Charlotte Latham (possibly) in England. The china was used in Burnaby since at least the 1920's since that's when her and her husband settled in Burnaby. The china was gifted to me (Ivaz) by Charlotte's daughter Frances, a Burnaby-born resident her entire life. Frances passed away in 1998.
