Description: The candleholder is made of brass. The base is square and two of the corners have been slightly dented. The candlestick has several turnings with the upper portion changing to a hexagonal cross section.

Object History: Owned by the Sample family and used at their boarding house in South Burnaby. The boarding house was used as the first meeting place for Burnaby Municipal Council in 1892. The candle holder may have been used along with the inkwells and tray during meetings of the early council.

There is a removable, white glass liner for holding the ink. The liner is slightly chipped at the edge. This is one of a pair used to hold red and blue ink.
