She has a large ribbon in her hair in the back, and is wearing a long light coloured dress with high neck, with a brooch or a medal pinned to her chest on the left. She has a pendant or a locket around her neck as well. The inscription on the photograph mount written by "Mary" identifies the woman as Ruth in her graduation gown, holding her diploma. Mary and Ruth's relationship to the donor or to Burnaby is not known.
